Damian Penny is pissed (angry, not drunk) that Blow received no nominations for the Oscars. He then states that his second favorite movie of the year (Enemy at the Gates) was also snubbed. He then bashes LOTR. I liked Blow and Enemy, but I found them wanting in the Oscar category. LOTR, however, was just outstanding.
Regardless, this made me wonder. What are the worst snubs in Oscar history? IMHO, the two biggest for me were the dreadful Shakespeare in Love beating Saving Private Ryan, and the WORST SIN IN THE HISTORY OF THE ACADEMY is Goodfellas being beaten by Dances with Wolves.
FWIW, if you really want to know how Hollywood works (at least how this uninformed yokel in West Virginia thinks Holywood works), you need to see three movies, in this order.
1.) El Mariachi
2.) The Player
3.) Desperado
