Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

It is not hopeless, and we are not helpless.

’Where will you hide, Roberts, the laws all being flat?’

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

This fight is for everything.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

The desire to stay informed is directly at odds with the need to not be constantly enraged.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

In my day, never was longer.

Giving up is unforgivable.

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

They are not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

Are There ANY Decent Democrats?

Two aides to Sandy Berger have this to say in a new book:

More broadly, the authors argue that the Bush administration failed to respond to the terrorist threat before the Sept. 11 hijackings. Senior military officers who served during the Clinton-Bush transition are quoted in the book as saying that terrorism moved “farther to the back burner” in the early days of the Bush administration
