Sorry for the lack of posts, but sometimes I need a break. The news gets me down if I pay too much attention to it, so every now and then I take a few days off. Plus, I have been spending a lot of time with the new addition to my family, my cat. I love animals, all kinds and all types, and I have always had a soft spot for the little critters. At any rate, it is amazing how different my house is since I got Tunch- I can not get over how a 7 pund cat/kitten just changes the dynamics.
Since getting a cat (this is not my first- we always had numerous cats and dogs when I was growing up), I have noticed several things. There seem to be several breeds of cat-hater out there. They break down as follows:
1.) People who are allergic to cats.
Totally understandable- I would hate anything that was totally avoidable and caused me respiratory problems and other issues. I can understand these people.
2.) People who think it is somehow unmasculine or uncool to like cats.
Grow up.
3.) People who think cats don’t like people and don’t have any emotions.
Have never seen Tunch or my other previous cats greet me when I get home from work, sprawl out and pass out on my stomache when I read or watch television, or the almsot constant afection cats give to people when the person is at their busiest (bat the fingers on the keyboard appears to be a source of constant amusement for cats).
4.) People who are too stupid to understand cats.
And there are a few of you out there. Move slowly. Be gentle. They don’t hate you- they are simply danger/pain averse.
5.) People who don’t understand cats.
Again, a large group of people. They have personalities. They don’t come when YOU call them, but Tunch comes when I call him. We have a reputation and a relationship. Try this- go to a bar, and yell a girls’ name out that you do not know. Are you HONESTLY surprised when she does not come running over to you? If so, you probably have a lot of dateless nights.
6.) People who do not deserve a cat.
You usually fit into the previous five categories, as well.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t love cats more than dogs. They are just different. I do, however, love my cat. And I don’t care what you think, you macho asshole.
