Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

In short, I come down firmly on all sides of the issue.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Thanks for reminding me that Van Jones needs to be slapped.

If you are still in the GOP, you are an extremist.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

I wonder if trump will be tried as an adult.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

They Are Human

Every time the left gets so worked up into a fevered pitch about something that I just can not take it anymore and want to dehumanize them (by doing things like collectively calling a group of different individuals ‘the left’), I find out things like this- most of the lefties on my blogroll like the show ’24.’ I love it. Check it out:

and Jesse.

Who would have thunk it? Except they are wrong about the best plot twist- which is that the younger Warner sister is the enemy agent.

MORE CATS….My cat post on Friday prompted an outpouring of requests from one guy for more pictures. Good enough for me! So here they are again. The big black and white one on the left is named Inkblot (for obvious…
