The straw man arguments about dissent and patriotism do get a bit tiring (by which I mean the immediate response that you are attacking someone’s patriotism when you state that you disagree with their protest of a war in Iraq), so it is refreshing to see something as blatantly obnoxious as this from Pretenders rocker Chrissie Hynde:
Between songs, the pugnacious Hynde, in a classic black T-shirt and jeans, bantered and battled with the crowd. She dedicated “You Know Who Your Friends Are” to “all you junkies and f–,” gave a shout-out to the late Joe Strummer, opined that she hopes the United States loses if it goes to war with Iraq (“Bring it on! Give us what we deserve!”), and introduced the song “Fools Must Die” with the self-deprecating quip, “I’ll show you how it’s done.”
It must just kill her to know that Rush Limbaugh uses ‘My City Was Gone’ as his intro theme.
*** Update ***
Instapundit calls Chrissie Hynde “ANOTHER ANTI-WAR SPEAKER WHO HATES AMERICA?”
Instapundit is forgetting something- she hates her adopted country of England, too. If and when we engage in this ‘unilateral’ action, there will be plenty of Brits by our side.
