I forwarded the story to a colleague who liked it but also brought up a good point which I am quoting here:
“My only complaint is that the story sees the two giants as moral equivalents, one of whom died of natural causes. Not true! The Soviet Union was a totalitarian empire bent on world domination. The United States killed it after a protracted cold war because it had idealogical, economic and military superiority. The Soviet system proved to be completely bankrupt in the first two categories. The West Europeans who now protest against America in comfort and freedom have short memories.”
