Keep this Mountaineer in your thoughts:

West Virginia woman who joined the Army because there were few jobs in her hometown is among a dozen soldiers reported missing after a supply convoy was ambushed in southern Iraq, her father said Monday.

Jessica Lynch, 19, of Palestine, worked as a supply clerk with the Army’s 507th Maintenance Co., said her father, Greg Lynch.

“The only thing they can tell us is she’s missing,” Lynch said.

    W. Virginia POW Jessica Lynch.

I am not prepared to write this young woman off so easily and am offended at your heading RIP Jessica.

What I am so horrified at is that while madman Saddam Hussein is executing his male POW’S, current evidence suggests that his trained monkeys are torturing the female POW’s. This is horrific. I am praying for her and the other women daily and for our male POW’s also. It would be better to be executed than undergo the kind of torture he so easily inflicts.

But some people have survived this unspeakable evil, and my hope is that Jessica will also, and that our troops and allies will find her and the other women, get them to safely and provide them with the health care they will need so that they can go on to live healthy and fulfilling lives, following whatever dreams they may have held for their future.

In the meantime I think about her and her family, and those other POW’s and their families, and pray for them all. I thank God for the leadership of George W. Bush, because this is a righteous fight. Hussein has to be stopped from destroying and mutilating people. He is an egomaniac and will not give up easily.

I applaud these women, and all our troops for their efforts in joining together to destroy the dreadful behavior of Sadam and his henchmen. We must obliterate this kind of wicked behavior upon the earth.

For anyone to have gone to Iraq shows tremendous bravery. I applaud Jessica and her family, and all of those who believe in the greater good of all mankind. At this time Saddam Hussein can only be equated to Hitler. At that time it was Winston Churchill who stood firm against much criticism in the early days of the War. Today it is George W. Bush.

I am so grateful he is our President. A true man of honor and dignity. A true leader. Whatever the outcome, Jessica has made a large contribution towards the greater good of mankind.

I wish her and her family well and pray they will not give up hope for her, and will pray for her delivery from these dreadful unspeakable people.

    P. A. Livingston.

I never gave up hope for that brave woman, I never met her but prayed everyday for her to have strength and hope. She is a true inspiration. My kids pray for her and all the POW’s and service Men & Women everynight. It’s because of them we have the freedoms that we do.

    Jessica,
I wanted to thank you from the deepest part of my heart for what you have done for our country. You are a brave soul and a true everlasting HERO! I myself was a supply specialist 2 years ago, but never got through basic because of medical problems, so I can in some way or another imagine how scared you are. My thoughts and prayers are with you sweety along with your family and friends. Stay strong and get better soon. They took you captive yes, but they didnt take your soul away..you can overcome this emotional trauma, I promise! I am proud to say I am one of the many who love you, even though we havent met. God Bless you!!!

    Why a hero?
What is wrong with you people. Someone gets captured and automatically they are a hero.
The heros are the people that saved her, did anybody mention them?
    Credit where credit is due.
How many lives were lost getting her out .. did anybody mention that?
Now that she’s home, she should go get another job and stop placing other people’s lives in danger.

Adam, I wonder if you would have the fortitude that this young woman has had to develop so young??? I certainly didn’t see her hysterical and blubbering when they took her off the plane today in Germany. Oh well, we all know that WOMEN are the not the WEAKER SEX; this is proven every day in the Maternity Wards of EVERY country. While many men are the ones fainting and turning green, the women are dealing with it! Hopefully, Jessica will continue to pursure HER DREAMS – whatever they may be – and THAT is why she is a REAL HERO! She is in a generation of women who have entered the military and accepted the risks! There are many MEN who can’t deal with DEFENDING their country and the IDEALS it stands for. Hang in there, Jessica….to many women and men and young kids, you represent the very best of our nation. God Bless you young lady.

    Jessica,

I want to thank you for fighting for the freedom of the USA and for those beliefs of the greatest goverment in the world.
I know there are haters like Adam S. he does not know what it is like to be in a war… I do, I was in Desert Storm during the first Gulf War. You have been through more than I have ever seen, probably more than most americans. If you come across people like Adam that don’t see more than 2 feet infront of themselfs remember that there are people like myself that appreciate you for what you have done. To me you are not a hero be cause you were captured. You are a hero because you fought and never gave up.. You will be remember by millions and loved by those who know you fought for us all….

thank you again for fighting for the freedom of us all.

Good luck with all that you do… Live long, live well… You are my hero…

I thank God you survived your terrible ordeal. I’ve been praying for you since I first heard of you being MIA. Being the son of a former POW I can relate to your situation and hope the best for you. I built a tribute website to you, it was sort of threapy for me to do. You have been on my mind so much and I am so proud of you. I thank you and love you for your service to our country. I appreciate all servicemen for the sacrifices they make to protect our way of life. You are God’s gift to us all.
