Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Nothing worth doing is easy.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

A last alliance of elves and men. also pet photos.

Consistently wrong since 2002

The GOP couldn’t organize an orgy in a whorehouse with a fist full of 50s.

I really should read my own blog.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

I know this must be bad for Joe Biden, I just don’t know how.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

Republicans don’t trust women.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Those Funny French

Today, Jacques ChIraq, who has been an unending source of amusement, had this to say about post-war Iraq:

“We are no longer in an era where one or two countries can control the fate of another country,” Chirac told a news conference after a meeting with U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Ruud Lubbers.

“Therefore, the political, economic, humanitarian and administrative reconstruction of Iraq is a matter for the United Nations and for it alone.”

In the headlines today:

“British Pick Local Leader to Control Chaotic Basra”

US Forces Push Further Into Baghdad; Saddam’s Fate Unknown

Is Chirac just trying to be amusing, or does he really not recognize we don’t care what he thinks regarding post-war Iraq? He, Tanzania, Syria, and Paraguay can huff and puff and give us all the suggestions they want- but it just doesn’t matter anymore.

Never mind hoping; send letters/eMails to the White House to keep the frogs out of it. Let them carp from the sidelines; that’s all they’re good for, anyway.

In related news, my brother, my sister, my dog and I decided that the coalition should be in charge. Whose opinion carries more weight?

If anyone else would like to directly poke fun at Chirac, go to http://www.elysee.fr/ang/ecrire/mail_.htm

    and email him.
