The liability is on the donor-there’s no way any campaign can vet all donors, that’s why it’s the donors that get in trouble, not the candidates.
and as long as I’m here:

For what it’s worth, my understanding is that Chuck Schumer doesn’t like John Edwards very much, so it’s unlikely he’d be giving him any advice. There’s not room enough on the Judiciary Committee for the two of them.

First this, now Kerry…

Uh-oh, looks like you’ve got a case of gumble.
Barney tried this over at Daily Pundit and got ripped to shreds. It was fun to watch–but it didn’t last. People who actually bothered to read his links used them to show ol’ Barney how wrong he was.
So he fled and looked for somewhere else to peddle his tripe
I like him better passed out at Moe’s

But you know what? For the rare few who skim this site looking for reasons to reveal their trollish nature, the ‘Pioneers’ Barney is so worked up about were people who raised money–i.e coordinated donors–not 500 people personally donating the money. A single Pioneer could theoretically represent 100,000 $1 donors.
Get it? Probably not, but hey, I tried….
