The Guardian has retracted the Wolfowitz story and issued a correction. Unhinged liberals can return to the usual rhetoric about Republicans starving poor people and children:
Paul Wolfowitz
A report which was posted on our website on June 4 under the heading “Wolfowitz: Iraq war was about oil” misconstrued remarks made by the US deputy defence secretary, Paul Wolfowitz, making it appear that he had said that oil was the main reason for going to war in Iraq. He did not say that. He said, according to the department of defence website, “The … difference between North Korea and Iraq is that we had virtually no economic options with Iraq because the country floats on a sea of oil. In the case of North Korea, the country is teetering on the edge of economic collapse and that I believe is a major point of leverage whereas the military picture with North Korea is very different from that with Iraq.” The sense was clearly that the US had no economic options by means of which to achieve its objectives, not that the economic value of the oil motivated the war. The report appeared only on the website and has now been removed.
Cautionary Tale
Can there be any doubt that our diligent bloggers are compelling the “mainstream” media types to start governing their tendencies to suborn fact to ideology? Hurrah! I only hope that more of the mass of middling voters, whose political opinions and actions rest not on reflection but inertia, will be moved to question the leftist dogmas they receive in print and on television–and to turn away from these passive media and to become more active citizens on the internet. DeTocqueville would approve.

Thankfully they carrected the error, now if we can the Moonie Times to start doing that, we will have something. Maybe Moon’s propaganda rag could start by correcting the lie they printed about AF1 being trashed. Did anyone see that? It sure had the puppets jumping up and down hating Clinton a little extra. They all knew it HAD to be true because they are trained not to question but act. Pavlov would be proud of conservatives.
