Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

In short, I come down firmly on all sides of the issue.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

People are complicated. Love is not.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

As long as McCarthy is Speaker, the House will never be in order.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Their freedom requires your slavery.

The willow is too close to the house.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Consistently wrong since 2002

A consequence of cucumbers

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

The Washington Post has a collection of pictures of all the photos of our soldiers lost in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Very depressing.

Interesting. During the war, DailyKos started posting pictures of soldiers killed with pasted sections about them personally from their published stories. I followed the links he provided, and in a couple of the stories found paragraphs (that Kos did not put on HIS page) referring to how this person knew they were doing a dangerous job, understood the costs, but went ahead willingly.

I cut and pasted these paragraphs into the comments section of Kos’ listings to make a point counter to Kos seeming to make these folks into victims. (I don’t know what the Post is trying to do.)

These brave men and women are NOT victims. They are heroes. God Bless them all.

    Faces of the Fallen

The Washington Post has a collection of information on most of the soldiers who died in Iraq. Thanks to John Cole for bringing this to our attention.
