Via Drudge, one of the funniest unfortunate choices of words ever by a Presidential candidate:
Dean was asked how he would win support of Democratic Party leaders given his frequent criticism of them and he responded that the leaders would come around once they got to know him.
“It is a bit of a club down there,” he said. “The Democratic Party, all the candidates from Washington, they all know each other, they all move in the same circles, and what I’m doing is breaking into the country club.”
Must run in the family:
The 17-year-old son of Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean would “pay the price” for his alleged involvement in what police said was a break-in at a country club that included the theft of alcoholic beverages, Dean said Sunday.
At least Howard has a sense of humor about it once he realized what he had said:
On Monday, Dean winced when he heard his own words.
“That was an incredibly unfortunate phrase,” he said.
“Why do I say these things?” Dean asked a press aide.

I thought you declared that the son of a Presidential candidate participating in the theft of $1500 worth of beer and champagne was not news just last Friday. If that is the case, why are Dean’s comments worth mentioning?
John Cole
Because it was a funny slip of the tongue- and, btw, I still think it should not have been reported in the mainstream media, but no one is learning about Dean’s son because of me.
ME
If no one is learning about Dean’s son because of you, is it because no one reads your blog?
Neal
Well, YOU, if that’s the case, then I guess that makes you the sucker.

Why are all trolls anonymous?

If only more politicians would stand up and say “gee, that was a stupid thing to have said”
Emperor Misha I
Yep.
I actually have to hand that one to Dean. That was a pretty damn cool way of handling an awkward situation, an awkward situation that wasn’t his fault to begin with, I should add.
