Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Come on, man.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

The gop is a fucking disgrace.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Oh FFS you might as well trust a 6-year-old with a flamethrower.

Consistently wrong since 2002

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

“But what about the lurkers?”

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

Everybody saw this coming.

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

Attention Anti-Semites and Conspiracy Theorists- The Ivy League is Hiring

Words fail me:

Cynthia McKinney, the feisty former 4th District congresswoman, is headed for the Ivy League.

Officials at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., confirmed that McKinney has been named a visiting professor at the institution. Under her contract, she will serve as a guest lecturer for three years, beginning this fall.

“Cynthia McKinney is a person of considerable achievement in the political sphere,” said Porus Olpadwala, dean of Cornell’s School of Architecture, Art and Planning, who served as chairman of the 13-member faculty committee that selected McKinney for the part-time professorship.

“She is an internationally renowned advocate for voting rights and human rights. She has taken clear stands on a number of critical issues and been a strong voice in Congress,” Olpadwala said.

I really am speechless.

No doubt Cornell expects her to bring new sources of money to the school. Heh.

Kind of politically moderate to be hanging out with that crowd, isn’t she? ]:-)

I have a five-year old niece who will begin attending college in the fall of 2016. I will make sure that she knows that Cornell seems to have no problem with hiring mentally unstable racists for teaching positions, and have confidence that she will react accordingly.

These days, the universities are essentially all beachheads for enemies of America. So we can take two comforts from this:

    1. No new institution will be corrupted by this development;

    2. No additional incarceration facilities will be required.

Oh. My. God. And Cornell used to be such a good school.

Internationally renowned? Lemme see, my dictionary has that as “widespread honor and fame; celebrity”. I’d have to look on anyone who honored a woman who may well be the biggest crackpot currently holding office, anywhere, with suspicion.

Can someone explain to me why an Ivy League education is so revered today? I went to state schools, got a great education, and was able to avoid being taught by the likes of Cornell West and Cynthia McKinney.

“Cynthia McKinney is a person of considerable achievement in the political sphere…”

OMG. I think John McEnroe said it best – “YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!”

Coming soon: Greg Palast explains how Cynthia McKinney is actually the best professor in history.

Apparently for balance, they also hired rabidly anti-U.S., anti-Israel journalist John Pilger for the same visiting professor position. I’m truly ashamed of my alma mater.

Isn’t this the point where Barney comes in claiming that poor Cynthia is a victim of the evil right wing media and the Zionist conspiracy?

Yes, Barney will be happy. Isn’t it enough for you, John, to know that a bit of sunshine has come into Barney’s life? I mean, it’s not all about you.

Well, since it is your blog, I guess it really is all about you, but all the same…

Anti-Semite? Well, the next time someone criticizes Rome, I’ll label you anti-Catholic.

And she never said that Bush knew or could’ve prevented 9/11. That was an outright lie.

Whatever you may think of Ms. McKinney, a person who has served as a Representative in the Congress of the United States is, in fact, a person of considerable achievement in the political sphere.

“Whatever you may think of Ms. McKinney, a person who has served as a Representative in the Congress of the United States is, in fact, a person of considerable achievement in the political sphere.”

And a US Senator is generally considered to have reached an even higher pinnacle of achievement–didn’t make Joe McCarthy any less of a dirtbag than he was.

I’m a little unclear on this; is “remarkable achievement in the political sphere” supposed to be generally a good thing? And does it more than completely make up for being a crackpot (McKinney) or…being Ted Kennedy?
