It is now officially over:
State Senator John Whitmire of Texas, ignoring pressure from Democratic colleagues, will attend a special legislative session in Austin today, an aide to the senator said, a move that gives Gov. Rick Perry, a Republican, the quorum he needs to try to push through a disputed Republican redistricting plan.
The aide, Laura Wendler, Senator Whitmire’s legislative director, said the senator would follow through on the statements he made in recent days that “he would take his fight to the Senate floor.”
Because I know Democrats, I am looking forward to them villifying Whitmire more than they attack the Republicans, because eating their own is what the Democrats are best at. I would not be surprised to see them attack Whitmire so savagely that he has a difficult time getting re-elected, further weakening Democrat interests. However, we are all well aware the prominent role that partisan purity plays within the Democrat party.

Actually, so far the Dems I’ve seen have been pretty understanding about it. Not happy towards him, mind you, but they know that they had no solutions, either. So they’re barrels are still aimed squaredly at the Republicans from what I’ve seen.

And now the little thugs are fighting among themselves . . . it’s so cute!
