A career criminal with weapons brandishing thugs in his posse has spewed that the investigation of his crimes is a (R) plot… because he’s the black(D) mayor.
Can’t wait to see him ‘do the frog march in chains’…
John Street is arrogant, abrasive, egotistical, petty, venal, vain, corrupt and unprincipled. However, the timing of this revelation stinks (the election is a month away) and I am not prepared to hand the keys to the city to John Perzel just in time to suppress voter turnout in the biggest city of a battleground state in November, 2004.
Having said that, let the investigation take its course. If Street or his buddies committed a crime, send ’em to jail, no question.
John Street is about as corrupt as corrupt gets. Forget about the concept of competitive bidding, he justs gives bids to his brother who used to be hot dog vendor and is now filthy rich. To complicate issues, the FBI is investigating him as a “subject” and yet people say he’s being discriminated against because he breaks almost every racketeering law in the country? The guy is decietful, lacks any string of integrity, and is the worst thing to happen to Philly in years. Katz is a very moderate republican who wants to bring jobs back into the city. Even as a democrat, I can’t see any choice but Katz or not voting. Endoring Street is like endoring Michael Corleonne for Mayor…I mean c’mon corruption is corruption is corrupiton.

i know it is over and street won the election, but philadelphia lost. Sam Katz got a better job, but Philadelphia did not get a better mayor…lower wage taxes equal more jobs. I am a democrat, but shame on street and his corrupt organization. shame on us for electing such a horrific person. Lastly, i wonder how much longer street will survive until hes indicted…anyone got any idea?

I USED to live in Philly, but with Street in office, I moved out. He is one of the WORST mayors this city has seen in years. It’s one thing to close down the rec centers, but its another thing to cut back on firefighters, police, and other city workers. HEY JOHN WE NEED THOSE PEOPLE!!! I hope he gets indicted soon. I still have family in Philly.
