If I were a vile anti-semite, and I am not- I think I am about as pro-Israel and pro-Jewish as the son of a West Virginia Quaker/Baptist union can possibly be, I might suggest that the ENORMOUS hullabaloo over Easterbrook’s stupid remarks (and even dumber apology) could be used as proof that the Jews are in fact running everything.
At any rate, the politcally correct crowd now has Easterbrook’s head, and they don’t know what to do with it. I just wish next time they would aim for Arafat, Al Sharpton, or most anyone employed by the governments of Syria, Egypt, and Sauid Arabia. Greg Easterbrook was not the enemy, it appears- and I’m sure we all feel a little less comfortable expressing controversial opinions. Who needs the Patriot Act when everyone can be hyper-sensitive?

Two GGs baby.

Actually, the bloggers who first went after Easterbrook were on the conservative side, but even they agree that ESPN firing him was an overreaction, inspired either by political correctness or by Michael Eisner.

Absolutely.
His comments were deeply disgusting, but his apology was sincere, and that should’ve been the end of that, as far as I’m concerned.

Esterbrook wasn’t fired for being an anti-Semite. Esterbrook was fired (and expunged) for criticizing his boss’s boss’s boss — the anti-Semitism charge was a convenient excuse.
That whole “media consolidation” thing liberals have been bitching about for the past five years? Welcome to the terrordrome, kids.

Not only is Michael Eisner an asshole. He is a rich left-wing asshole.
