I see that Bob Graham is announcing that he will not run for election again in 2004, thus vacating his Senate seat. I checked the Florida Archives of the invaluable Political State Report, and they have nothing up yet about how this race might shake out.
Anyone know anything?

Perhaps Katherine Harris should run for the seat. She might not win, but the chance that Alterman and millions of his fellow Sore Losers will collapse into twitching heaps at the moment of her victory announcement is worth the risk.

I hope she does run, actually; my understanding is that the oppo on her is pretty strong, and my schadenfreude at seeing that corrupt bitch get the kind of disdain she deserves would be visible from 300 to 500 miles away.

It’s turning out to be a pretty bad year for the Democrats. They’re likely to get hammered this year in the gubernatorial contests. GWB is setting up a blowout on the presidential level as the economy picks up. The House is secure in Republican hands and now with so many Dem Senators retiring in an already unfriendly statistical climate (Dems have to defend more seats) it is a question of how many Senate seats will shift to the Republican column.
The outside optimistic possibility is they get 60. That’s no longer ludicrous but just barely possible. The more likely outcome is that they get a functional 60 for the judicial nominees.
Sweet dreams Dems!

As usual, Republicans make clear that they do not care about democratic processes, just making sure that the “right” people win.
There’s a reason Bush is so chummy with Putin. They have a lot in common, philosophically.

Ah, the grand finale, followed by an invocation of “selected, not elected” and a lot of crying into watered-down martinis until the next meeting at the Tinfoil Lounge.
