After two years of running this site, I have finally banned someone for their comments. Previously, I had banned people for ‘viagra spamming’ and for random drive-bys filled with nothing but obscenities. However, JadeGold has now gone too far, and the website will be a better place without he/she/it.
In the past, JadeGold has accused me, repeatedly, of being a McVeigh supporter, has questioned my motives and intent for everything I have ever written, has engaged in a pattern of intentionally dishonest debate, including shifting the topic of every thread so that it has nothing to do with the original post, continues to insist that Bush is ‘your President’ and other idiotic nonsense, has talked extensively of a military background while showing no evidence of any military knowledge, as well as a variety of other really annoying behaviors.
One of the side effects of having JadeGold post comments here is that decent lefties (like Kimmitt) get tarred with JadeGold’s obnoxiousness, and I find that there is just a genuine air of hostility with every thread because of Jade’s asshole behavior. The final straw, however, was this bile directed at Steve Malynn, who spent a number of years in the military, including in the NationalGuard/Reserve:

Some have suggested the ban be temporary. I am fine with that. I will unban he/she/it on 1 January 2004 in the spirit of the New Year. If he/she/it behaves, he/she/it can stay and play.

I banned his ass over a month ago & if I decide to change software will ban his ass again, for precisely the same reasons you put forth. Not only do I encourage lefties to comment on my site, I’ve added 3 lefty co-bloggers in the last year, so any accusations of squashing dissent goes on deaf ears.
Let’s face it: JadeGold is a terrible debater. The only things Jade puts forth are dishonest charges, overall falsehoods and personal attacks.
Be prepared, John. JadeGold has been following me all around the internet in comments sections trying to garner some sort of ‘revenge’ for my banning his sorry ass by spreading more lies about me. From what I can tell, most of the lefties give him the same treatment zizka & demetrius get – internet leper. So, the feeling isn’t contained only on the right.
It’s a pity, because so many of us actually *do* enjoy legitimate debate. But, as I often say, if one wants sub-standard discourse, falsehoods and generic mantra that a nine year-old can spout, usenet is only a click away.

I’ve always thought there’s a better than even chance that JadeGold is the same person as Mac Diva, who is (or at least claims to be) a woman in Oregon. Perhaps it’s just wishful thinking: I hate to think that there are two such horrible trolls, and Mac Diva does operate at least two websites that pretend to be by different people.

She repeated the lie everywhere until finally the readers of Calpundit, when I stated she was lying, called her out. Then, they actually found out that not only was she lying, but that I had been defending the Clintons in the little scandal she was talking about.

I’ve had comments on my blog from both JadeGold and MacDiva. I hear from all kinds of silly people, and have no indication that these two are the same.
The JadeGold comments (Nov. 2003) came from an east coast IP address. The MacDiva comments (Jan. 2003) came from Portland, OR.
