It is time to dump the BCS. Every year, some team does exactly what it is supposed to do, and then gets hosed byt the BCs nitwits. This year’s victim is USC. Despite being #1 in the AP and CNN coaches polls, doing everything they had to, winning every game- by convincing margins, even, LSU and Oklahoma re going to the big dance.
And it makes no damn sense. I am now rooting for USC in the Rose Bowl. This current system just is not fair, and Kevin- your team got screwed. There is no other way to put it.
Sean Hackbarth
Who got screwed last year? Weren’t Miami and Ohio State the top two teams? This is the first time I can recall where it’s gotten out of wack.
Ricky
They didn’t win every game. They have a loss, as does LSU & Oklahoma.
Maybe the BCS doesn’t take into account “when” the loss was, but the quality of opponent the loss was against?
Let’s face it, Cal ain’t K State.
Keith
Actually, USC lost to Cal in overtime early on. That being said, I agree that the BSC is the wrong way to decide who meets in the National Championship game.

yet another year with yet another *.
(sigh)
Ricky
Keith,
I believe I said that USC lost to Cal and that the BCS probably didn’t take the “when” into account.
Oklahoma losing late to a quality opponent (now ranked #8) versus USC losing to an also-ran early probably would give a computer program exactly what it spat out.

I’m a fan of the lost tradition, Bowl games that meant nothing but that game, the National Championship a purely subjective fight. I revel in the return of controversy, and always enjoy USC getting sc****d.
Bring back pure indeterminacy, scrog the BCS and any pansy-ass playoff. I want to be able to fight, irrationally, about who is the best college team for the six months I have to wait between seasons.
Brandon
I kind of thought that the BCS is working the way it was intended. Wasn’t it created to prevent PAC-10 teams from playing for the national championship?

So two of USC’s victories were with teams that had their respective asses handed to them, but still rated first in the Coachs and AP polls? But not in the BCS?
Amazing….
Well, great. That now gives my #4 “Amazin’ Blue” from Ann Arbor a chance to really muck up the national ratings.
If they handle everyone’s #1 pick USC, in the Rose Bowl, does that mean that #4 UofM is then the National Champ?
Or do they ‘share’ it with the winner of Okla v. LSU?
Of the bunch of them, I feel for the Longhorns: they dropped out or sight from 5th to 9th…
bg
Michigan won’t get nothing if they win. They’ll still have two losses. But they will make sure that there’s only one winner if they beat USC. Therefore, I shall root for them.

My bad: suffering from HIA syndrome…
I mispoke: GEORGIA dropped from 5 to 11 in the ratings,, Not TX Longhorns. But y’all knew that.
When do the NCAA basketball tourneys commence anyway?
