Check out this revolting puff piece on Al Sharpton in the NY Times. I don’t get it- Sharpton is scum of the earth, and this is a rather positive piece. Dean has done nothing but serve as a 5 time governor, and the NY Times puts a hit piece out on him. What gives?

The British Airways Flap
In the other faux scandal of the week, it turns out that the fine Air Force Officers who pilot Air Force One did actually hear someone question whether or not they had seen Air Force One.
“NATS has now concluded its investigations and can confirm that a conversation between the crew of an aircraft belonging to a non-U.K. operator and its control center took place around 9:30 GMT, on Thursday, the 27th of November, 2003.
“The pilot of the aircraft asked whether the aircraft behind it was Air Force One. After consulting the flight plan of those aircraft in the sector at that time, the center responded that the aircraft was a Gulfstream V. NATS notes reports that U.S. officials have said that for security reasons, Air Force One had filed a flight plan which stated that the service would operated by a Gulfstream V.”
Now will the left please stop calling Colonel Tillman and the other Air Force Officers who pilot Air Force One liars? I really think the left flank of the political sphere has lost their damned minds.
At any rate, the whole transcript from today’s press briefing is below. Watch how many times reporters try to get the White House to admit they were liars because they didn’t tell the pre4ss where the President was going. The sad state of the media and journalism…

Not To Rain On Your Parade
Jesse has his list of the “20 Most Annoying Conservatives” up, and if you are a Democrat, it is a hoot. Hell, I thought some of them were damn funny myself. At any rate, there is only one problem with the list. His most annoying conservative is Bill O’Reilly, who is in no way, shape, or form, a conservative. Unless what conservative really means is ‘anything I don’t like or anything I think is bad.’
At any rate, Bill O’Reilly is a conservative like Larry King is a liberal. As Matt Stinson noted, he is more of an angry moderate who would have voted for Perot in 1992, and his ideology is simply not developed. I think he is nothing more than a faux populist who tends to lean tothe rigth slightly because of who his employer is. Certainly there are more annoying conservatives out there- I can pick a few- and at all of my picks would be conservative.
Try this on for size- who out there thinks Bill O’Reilly is more annoying than John Derbyshire?
That’s what I thought… and Derby’s an actual conservative.
The Campaign is Over
I really sense that the Democratic primary is over, even before a vote has been cast. I simply can not imagine a scenario in which Dean is not the Democratic candidate next year. This just has such a sense of inevitability right now.
Those Humorous Dems
Incredible as it may seem, some Democrats are actually trying to make a big deal about the absurd turkey scandal. Even more difficult to believe, the DNC’s own weblog, Kicking Ass, is actually trying to make the point that the turkey non-issue points to the larger credibility. Heh.
Who is advising these people? Are these guys all Karl Rove plants? Who is telling these knuckleheads what to do? Al this time, and I thought Amy Carter was the worst advisor the Democrats ever had.

Reader and commenter Tom Scott sends in this humorous Roger Staubach anecdote:
But he’ll never come up with a quote to match Staubach. The year after he retired (1980), he was in the booth during one Monday night game involving the Cardinals, who had their typical swiss cheese secondary and were getting scorched as usual. During the week before the game, President Carter, in a campaign speech (or perhaps in a debate with Reagan) had made some saccharine reference to his daughter Amy’s “fear” of a nuclear war. Staubach, with a perfect deadpan voice, remarked to Cosell as the Cardinals were being threatened once again, “You know, Howard, the Cardinals have the same problem as Amy Carter….They’re both afraid of The Bomb.” I don’t remember Cosell’s reaction, but the room I was in (which included many Democrats) didn’t stop laughing for the entire evening.
Stop the Presses!!!
If this is a scandal, clearly the Washington Post needs a new set of editors. I have a suggestion- and he is out of retirement:
I am afraid this scandal is a turkey.
