Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Those who are easily outraged are easily manipulated.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

So many bastards, so little time.

Republicans do not trust women.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Hell hath no fury like a farmer bankrupted.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

In after Baud. Damn.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls 2 years from now.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

Really- they just hate his policies:

MARGARET CHO (Comedian) —

* “Despite all of this stupid bullsh– that the Republican National Committee, or whatever the f— they call them, that they were saying that they’re all angry about how two of these ads were comparing Bush to Hitler? I mean, out of thousands of submissions, they find two. They’re like fu–ing looking for Hitler in a hawstack. You now? I mean, George Bush is not Hitler. He would be if he fu–ing applied himself.” big, extended applause) “I mean he just isn’t.”

Yawn. Charming people. And remember- it is only January.

    Link

There’s also Julia Stiles and Al Franken “joking” that Bush and O’Reilly are murderers…

I didn’t realize what a vile, hate-filled “ignant” person Margaret Cho was until I read her lunatic screed on Thanksgiving.
That link to Drudge had some disgusting stuff.

Oh God, the Franken was obviously joking and Franken did not accuse any one. Cho *=unfunny* comment is way over the top and the Stiles comment was pretty stupid. We KNOW this HAS to be TRUE because it is from Drudge.

What does Mickey Kaus say? “Drudge Report: 80% true, close enough!”

This was a long event from which Drudge has cherry-picked the parts most convenient for his agenda of portraying liberals as frothing-at-the-mouth Bush haters. Never mind that the ad that won the competition points out the inconvenient fact that Bush has created a huge deficit. And the Franken line is hilarious, come on.

Dimmy – By that logic Trent Lott did no wrong when he praised Strom Thrumond’s segregationalist past, since that really was only one little sentence out of the entire event, and therefore not indicative of the overall tone of the event.

    Right?

Margaret Cho is now the leader of the Republican party in the US Senate? I find her somewhat funny, but was not aware she held so much power.

    *yawn*

Wow, Oliver. Congratulations on making absolutely no sense. Just when I thought you couldn’t make any less sense, you have to go and prove me wrong.

So, the logic here is, the less power you hold, the more stupid you can be? What, is there a contest?

Guess that pretty much tosses out all of your frothing about O’Reilly, since he’s got almost exactly zero more power in government than Cho has. Eh?

Last I checked, O’Reilly wasn’t a major player in the Republican party unlike MoveOn and Soros…

Yeah, I’m sure if Limbaugh went on the air today joking that Dean had that Ungerer guy “knocked off,” the left would be saying how funny it was…

Olive, I’ll remember that the next time you get a woody going off on Ann Coulter.

Coulter/Limbaugh/O’Reilly aren’t part of the RNC (at least not on the surface) so they similarly don’t have the same audience to answer to as Senator Lott. But the poster above me was comparing something from the chattering class (of which I am also a member) to the utterances of a frigging United States Senator. Call me old fashioned, but my standards are higher.

Since the comparison was by way of analogy, Oliver, you’re getting all het up over nothing. Gregory didn’t say Lott’s comments should get a pass, he said that by Dimmy’s logic it should have. Big difference.

Please!! Margaret Cho is a comedian!! She was doing a stand up on politics. If a man had said what she said, everyone would have laughed, but instead people have turned on her because of her gender, race and looks. Don’t take everything so seriously!! However, that Thanksgiving thing makes a good point. We did take a land that was not ours to take and killed off the Native people. While she takes an extreme stance on this, who can argue? It’s history! I think Christopher Columbus needs to stop getting a day! Anyway, just calm down with your hate commments. Or do your own stand up act and you’ll find out how hard it is. Kisses….Amy
