Which leads me to believe that it’s either a) a prank (see “protest warrior”) or b) COINTELPRO II.

It should be said that those who opposed the war shouldn’t have to apologize for things like this. But it would make some of us feel better if they’d at least roundly condemn it and agree that it makes them feel sick.
I remember how, in the year 2000, when I reveald that I was probably going to vote for Bush, someone tried to show me the contents of the Free Republic web site, to ask me if I really wanted to associate with “people like that.”

If it’s real, this guy is no more welcome in liberal and/or democrat circles than you guys welcome Eric Rudolph and other killers.
That said, you guys are dupes, this is so obviously a photo-shop effort it’s shocking.
What is the guy holding onto the sign with? Poles that stick out the bottom? Then why no poles on the sides and no rounded corners?
His grip looks like the “poles” would be about the size of chopsticks anyway, and the sign would clearly have to be a heavy posterboard to be that sturdy, small chopstick sized sticks wouldn’t do it. Look at the bottom corners of the sign, they are perfectly square and just resting on top of his hands. Fake.
And take a look at the shadows: look at the angle of the two girl’s shadows to the left of the buy, and then look at his shadow. There should be a big shadow from the sign touching near the feet of the girl in pink and her friend…but it’s missing.

I agree–this is ‘shopped. If you’re going to make a poster that over-the-top why not take the time to make sure everyone can read it? What are his hands holding onto?

the way he ran out of room on the poster and had to scrunch up the letters makes it look pretty convincing. as someone who’s made posterboard projects for school in the last ten years, I can sympathize with this problem of writing too big and having to get a new one.
good poster paper would stand up when holding the corners like he’s doing. look on the side and near the top, the poster is bending a bit, as gravity would do to a poster. I think it’s legit.

He’s holding like 1/8″ of the corner on with his left hand and less than that with his other. NO WAY, no matter how sturdy the paper, could you hold a sign that big in windy-ass San Francisco by the itsy bitsy bit of corner like the picture.
And the shadow? Now that I look even closer, in addition to not being tall enough, it’s not even flat on the top like it should be if he was holding a big square sign.

the reason I brought up the writing is because I’ve seen faked Photoshop posters before, and I’ve not seen any of them take advantage of that quirk.
Unless I’m missing seeing something, I don’t know that you can see enough of the shadow to make a call on what is or isn’t reflected there. the only one I see(excluding the one on his chest) is the one at his feet, and that isn’t shown well enough in the picture to judge, I don’t think.

I agree that you can’t see his shadow enough, but that’s the point: look at the girls to the left of him, his shadow should be similar in size and direction and would show, especially with a giant sign sticking up.
This picture has been perverted to rile up rubes like Cole and his blind followers, unfortunately they were too small minded to even look at the obvious inconsistencies.
They want to believe in hate, and shockingly, hate delivers.

As for why someone there didn’t kick the guys ass? Freedom of speech has a very painful side to it, doesn’t it. Probably not as painful as the downside of the 2nd amendment, but I’m sure no one here wants to talk about that.

I have just seen this picture that John has up at many different sites and thought you were correct. Then I ran into the others I posted and rethought. I still say the guy walking thru the crowd doesn’t loook right….stands out too much. But, I am not that knowledgeable on Photoshop, but I do know enough that when making a picture from multiple images, the most important element for reality is shadows, shadows, shadows. If something doesn’t have a shodow, it wasn’t there in the first place…and I still can’t figure out your catch, where the hell is the signs shadow is?
Oh well, as you said, just another tool. Freedom of speach is a bitch.
