The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

75% of people clapping liked the show!

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Let me file that under fuck it.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

We know you aren’t a Democrat but since you seem confused let me help you.

A Quick Quiz

I didn’t see the press conference, but I read some blogger write-ups. It has inspired me to write this short quiz.

Q: Who should apologize for 9/11?

If your answer is anything other than “Osama and the people who slammed the planes into the building,” you are an idiot.

*** Update ***

As Jeff Jarvis (and Hanks inthe comments here note:

Just amazing that the reporters keep harping on wanting Bush to say that he made a “mistake” or “failed” or should “apologize.”

Jeesh, do they think this is Oprah and they’re all Dr. Phil?

Yes.

The touchy-feely lefties want Bush to go on Dr. Phil and tearfully apologize, then resign and cry.

    Jesus Christ,
If your answer is anything other than “I can’t believe that dimwit is our President” then you can consider yourself a walking, fucking human joke.

Someday, Cole and HH, your grandkids or great grandkids will see this press conference in History class and you can (you decide the context) and when they ask, you will proudly say “yes, I voted for that great man”.

Feel like a joke? You are.

Gee, watching that, you’d think the press had their agenda and storyline *gasp* pre-planned

    Oh, of course they did…

Burnplant- Add something to the debate or be gone.

You did not even address any aspect of this post, but insulted me and the President.

Why should I have to put up with your shit?

I don’t think the Prez should apologize for 9/11. What could he do? He’s just the President, it’s not like he can control the FBI, or CIA or anything. Who knows what those jokers are doing, anyway? And even if they did try and warn him or something, have you ever read all those big words in their memos? Who has time for that? Brush needs to be cleared from fake ranches, man!
Also, it’s Clinton’s fault. It’s not like Bush ever said he would do better than Clinton or anything. I think that was his campaign slogan –
Bush: I hope nothing bad happens.

Wow- You have no idea what has even happened in the 9/11 commission.

Burnplant- another Democrat who seems to think his lungs are a reservoir of thought.

careful cole, he might start complaining that you’re trampling his right to free speech, crushing dissent, and beginning a new way of mcarthyism, all while quietly masturbating to atrios’ faceless picture while 295million americans continue to not give a damn about his opinion

No, Cole, I have no idea what’s going on with the 9-11 commision.

What is that about anyway? Is it because Bush doesn’t have an intern on the end of his dick? Isn’t that why investigations of Presidents are done?

Wow, I wish I was as smart as you and knew what it was about.

Did Carter apologize for the 444 days Iranian revolutionaries held American citizens? Did Reagan apologize for the Marine barrack attack in Beirut? Did Clinton apologize for WTC 1, Murrow Bldg, African Embassies, the Cole…

Matters of fact, those last four also were under Clarke’s watch. That he did not take responsibility for those and apologize makes clear to me that his 9-11 hearing antics were vacuous and unfelt, spoken only to damage the Bush Administration.

    And have those

    Burnplant,

Do try not to be quite so obtuse, would you? Does the fire department predict conflagration? Does the police department practice “Pre-Crime” or does that just happen in science fiction movies like “Minority Report”? Are you assured of a speedy commute to work based on the morning radio reports?

If Bush had the Oracle at Delphi on his staff, then perhaps there might be some blame to disburse. Unfortunately all he or anyone else before him had was a fairly ambiguous memo that said Al Quaeda had it in for the US. Well STOP THE PRESSES! Had we acted on THAT then none of this would have happened! I wonder how many other memos are swirling around that state this group or that government have it in for the US. Thank goodness for threat assesment.

The truth is, all anyone could do was be as proactive as possible and hope for the best. What could he have done? I’d like to hear what you think Bush could have possibly done to prevent what happened on 9/11. He could have invaded Afganistan for what would have been considered “No reason” prior to 9/11. That MIGHT have stopped him… Then again, he and the US would have been vilified in the international community and by people such as yourself, much like we were when invading Iraq to stop another potential threat in Saddam Hussein. Who knows… perhaps the invasion of Iraq stopped another 9/11 from happening. In the mean time I’m satisfied that an inhumane dictator was removed from power. The truth is, there is nothing Bush could have done that would have earned your support. Either he didn’t do enough or he would have done too much and been considered a “War for Oil” Republican war-monger.

Please share with us what would have been an acceptable approach for the Bush administration in preventing 9/11. I would LOVE to hear it.

In the mean time, take solace in your horoscopes and tea-leaf readings. Go make millions on stock market predictions based on daily financial reports. Just let the rest of us in the real world deal with issues the best we can.
