I guess character only matters when you are attacking Democrats. That is why the libs are gleeful about their newly funded ‘fact-checker,’ David Brock.
And how many ways to not get something are these guys going to come up with before they figure out what people are talking about? The right is generally not concerned with errors in OPINION PIECES. It is when the opinions are masquerading as news that the right gets pissy.
Would we bother to fact-check Air America? Hell, no. First, we wouldn’t want to pay a fact-checker to double their audience, second, who has that kind of patience to listen to that all day long?

John…while I generally agree with you, I have to say…
The right is generally not concerned with errors in OPINION PIECES
…is hard to believe. My god, man, have you never heard of Paul Krugman? He’s got his own cottage industry of outrage. :)
BoreAmerica
Fact-checking Air America is really not all that difficult because they usually say something false or highly questionable at least once every 10 minutes or so. Only the fact that they’re no longer available in L.A. has kept me off the fact-checking beat, but that should just be temporary.

SHOCK! Opinion columns express…..opinions!
Rush Limbaugh has………opinions!
The left are idiots.

John,
How about when spin masquerades as fact? Last night & tonight, both, I’ve heard multiple t-heads on Fox News emphasize that the prison improprieties are limited to just the few individuals, when, in fact, the Army’s own preliminary report (obviously unread by the President, General Meyers nor anyone a Fox) forecasts more widespread, perhaps systemic problems.
I have no idea, of course, whether you get your cable news fix from Fox or not, but many conservatives certainly do. Am I to imagine that the last two nights have seen an epidemic of pissy fits spread across the red states? Almost certainly, not.
It is good to have you implicitly admit that Rush is full of shit, though, and I can think of no-one better to disabuse you further of the fantasy that conservatives are noble truth seekers than David Brock.
By the way, Randi Rhodes’ show is quite good, I think. I can see why Rush worked so hard to put the kibosh on her syndication.

There is certainly no one to disabuse people of the fantasy that lefties are noble truth seekers than David Brock. A man who apparently lies for left or right will now tell us what’s truthful. He’s already lied by omission about the recession. What next?
Randi Rhodes calls Limbaugh a Nazi on a regular basis. Then the left has the cajones to wonder why he doesn’t want her on the air (which by the way was never substantiated, but has entered the ether of left wing “fact” like so many other myths).

“The right is generally not concerned with errors in OPINION PIECES. It is when the opinions are masquerading as news that the right gets pissy.”
True and false in that order. The Right is not concerned with errors in any pieces, so long as they promote their agenda, and Fox News disproves your thesis completely.

“The right is generally not concerned with errors in OPINION PIECES. It is when the opinions are masquerading as news that the right gets pissy.”
I care quite a bit about factual errors in opinion pieces. MoDo is a good example. She has a tendency to state her opinions AS facts, and that hacks me off.

“Fox News disproves your thesis completely.”
I’ll note that next time Chris “I’m in love with Dick Clarke” Matthews and CNN Crossfire air… can’t be a news channel with opinion shows, now, can we?

This is such a bunch of bs. I went and looked at their “fact checking” it is a list of things they find offensive, NOT a list of things that are factually incorrect.
The first 18 are “sexist” comments Limbaugh made. I think you would be hard pressed to find one that is ‘incorrect’. The worst one, in my opinion, was :
“1) Some of these babes, I’m telling you, like the sexual harassment crowd. They’re out there protesting what they actually wish would happen to them sometimes. [4/26/04]”
Although, there is a certain % of the population that DOES wish their boss would come on to them, I don’t think I would make the point he makes, but I don’t think you can dismiss it out of hand as incorrect.
Then they are really pissed at the term “feminazi” which they turn into femi-Nazi for added emphasis. This is a word that Rush made up to represent the militant feminists, again I’m not sure that is the choice I would make but it is a word he made up and isn’t incorrect. Then they get mad that he uses the word “babe” please. I would disect more but I don’t want to use up too much bandwidth.
Maybe I’ll fact-check the fact checkers, that would be fun.

For a non-partisan, non-profit fact checker put out by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, go to : http://www.factcheck.org/
According to their website:
“We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit, “consumer advocate” for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics. We monitor the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases. Our goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding.”

What a bunch of brainwashed idiots. You are being duped. Happy serfhood.

I quit believing the hype years ago. When the major media started broadcasting by the method, if it bleeds it leads. Not to mention the actual taking statements out of context so they can get a cute soundbite. Or they think that it is going to help them with their idea that their story is right and important. So those that are smart enought to start looking and doing research are not believing that they are just political hacks but there are those that are blind but are still shown the way of light and wisdom.
