I just saw the most wonderful little movie. If you have not already, go rent Big Fish.
Of course, I cried. But it was still a sweet movie.

I’m going to rent Big Fish just for the halibut and I won’t carp about it, either.

I liked it a great deal, myself, but I was a little disappointed that “Your Move” wasn’t part of the soundtrack. It’s hard to even discuss any of it without giving the whole story away, though. I think it’s one I’m going to have to buy.

I loved this movie, and was surprised that it basically got ignored by the Academy.
Shiloh
A memorable movie. The academy pretty much ignored “Secondhand Lions” too, though.

I knew we could agree on something.

My wife and I happen to have watched Big Fish last weekend- we were both bored to tears. The father was so cartoonishly done that you got the idea that he had no self-awareness at all. By the end, I was actually pulling for him to die before his son could reconcile with him- because his son was in the right. So, the point of this movie is “If reality kind of bores you, then just retreat into a fantasy world and stick to that fantasy world even to the utter consternation and alienation of your only son?”. Pass.

I believe the point of the movie was not that we should retreat into a realm of fiction and fantasy. I pulled from it that despite our different views on the world, no matter how grounded in reality or how far askew they are, love can conquer. I personally loved the film, but perhaps that is because my father is the same sort of cartoonish character portrayed in the flick. Two thumbs up here!

I thought it should’ve at least been nominated for Best Picture. At least.
