Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Just because you believe it, that doesn’t make it true.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

The willow is too close to the house.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

“And when the Committee says to “report your income,” that could mean anything!

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans don’t trust women.

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

Republicans in disarray!

This fight is for everything.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

“woke” is the new caravan.

Joe Lieberman disappointingly reemerged to remind us that he’s still alive.

In my day, never was longer.

Now It is Therezsa’s Turn

The most annoying line of this campaign is already the nonsense about questioning Kerry’s patriotism. Now his wife takes a turn:

Although they have questioned Kerry’s Senate votes on defense and foreign policy, neither Bush nor Cheney has commented personally on his service in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Bush served stateside in the Texas Air National Guard during the war while Cheney received five deferments from military service.

In an interview with Telemundo, NBC’s Spanish-language network, Teresa Heinz Kerry said, “To have a couple of people, who escaped four, five, six times and deferred and deferred and deferred calling him anything regarding his service is in and of itself unpatriotic. Unpatriotic.” NBC’s “Nightly News” aired part of the interview Thursday.

Said Racicot: “Every time the discussion focuses on John Kerry’s Senate record of voting against weapons systems, voting against support for troops in the field or his positions on both sides of critical questions of national security, his campaign falsely claims that his patriotism is being attacked.”

Remember this the next time you hear a Democrat say they want to talk about issues.

Seriously, since there actually are many MANY issues that can be used to attack Kerry’s patriotism (of which he has none)

That the Republicans have restrained from doing so is probably to their credit.

    “(of which he has none)”

With all due respect, how much shrapnel are you currently carrying in your body? Senator Kerry has many flaws, but a failure to serve his country patriotically is most certainly not among them.

he hasn’t for about 30 years Kimmit. He has defined patriotism like all good liberals .I hate everything the right likes therefore that makes me a patriot.Dissent is NOT the essence of patriotism

The man took bullets for his country in a war he thought was wrong, then came back to try to make sure no one else would have to do so. That’s about as patriotic and American as it gets.

Again, I have many, many problems with Senator Kerry, but I have no doubt whatsoever that he is deeply committed to this country’s good. He has most certainly proved that under the must strenuous of conditions.

He isn’t carrying any shrapnel. I read those reports. None of his wounds hospitlalized him. At least two were handled with a band aid.

    shrapnel, heh.
