Whatever

Whatever, Oliver. You aren’t partisan whores:

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld answered questions yesterday about abuse in an Iraqi prison run by the U.S. military, John Kerry’s presidential campaign sent out a mass e-mail calling for Mr. Rumsfeld’s resignation and asking for donations.

“Keep the ball rolling,” wrote campaign manager Mary Beth Cahill. “Donate now!”

“Over the past week we have all been shocked by the pictures from the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq,” wrote Ms. Cahill. “John Kerry has called on Donald Rumsfeld to resign, and today we’re asking you to support him by adding your name to the call for Rumsfeld to resign.”

In addition to allowing recipients to sign a petition demanding that Mr. Rumsfeld resign, the e-mail also permitted recipients to donate cash online.

I don’t even need to comment.

Ah, I see the directives from Drudge and the Moonies arrived this morning. I have the email in question, and it directs people towards a petition to sign to fire Rumsfeld. There isn’t any pitch to donate, save for one button at the very end, clearly delineated from the rest of the email – that is on EVERY email Kerry ’04 sends out.

He certainly hasn’t used 9/11 corpses to raise funds.

Oliver, precisely how does one defend Kerry from the charge of being a money-grubbing political hack by *ADMITTING* that he slaps a ‘Send Me Money!’ link on every single e-mail he sends?

    Earth to Chuckq:

Politics runs on money. Lots of it. That’s why Bush does fundraisers. That’s why Kerry does ’em. That’s why both of their web sites have links grubbing for money. If you don’t like it, support public financing of campaigns. Otherwise, get over it.

SOP for leftists — when speaking to anyone who does not agree with them in every particular, start out with the presumption that you’re talking to an absolute moron, and go progressively downhill from there. Patronizing much?

As to your attempt at a counter-argument… *rolleyes*. Granted that all politicians ask for money, there are still differences in when you ask for money, how oftem, and with how much taste.

And one could state with much veracity that standard GOP procedure is to argue “it’s DIFFERENT when our guy does it!”

If you don’t want to be taken for a moron, Chuckq, don’t do such a good imitation of one.

I think I understand what David Brock’s comfort cushion is saying….using the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse issue and the resulting Rumsfeld brouhaha as a means of raising political campaign funds is no problem in the case at hand since the Kerry campaign solicits funds with EVERY e-mail it puts out, irrespective of the subject matter.

And further, the Kerry campaign never uses 9/11 corpses to raise funds because it is already fully engaged in using imagery, including that of the dead and missing, from the Vietnam war.

    That sounds about right.

Oliver, this is hardly the little button at the end ofthe e-mail you describe.

Are you mistaken, or are you a liar?

Again, this is the signature at the end of every Kerry email. So what you are accusing the Kerry campaign of doing is sending email with signatures on it. Horreurs!

On a similar note, these partisan hacks have called for Rumsfeld’s resignation, too. (Thanks to Billmon for the link.)

The “Times” papers for the services are a Gannett (read: USA Today, ‘Murikas toy newspaper) operation.

    So, partisan they be.

    Cordially…

Keep it up, Kerry. With only 20% of Americans wanting Rumsfeld to resign, this will backfire bigtime.

Nothing is more stunning in politics than the hypocrisy of the new century conservative.

Kerry’s solicitation of campaign donations in every situation are no more outrageous than GWB’s use of flag-draped coffins from the 9/11 tragedy for his campaign.

oh please, spare us a discredited meme. flag draped coffins. Which group is making hay of some flag draped coffin pictures.

Nothing is more sickening listening to a hypocrite claim hypocrisy because he does not have an argument. In short “I know you are, what am I”

WTF Capt? I gave you an argument – that is Kerry isn’t doing anything disproportionately to Bush’s actions. Gotta love the conservative, though… declare that someone doesn’t have an argument because you don’t happen to agree with it.

BTW, who declared the “flag draped coffins” meme discredited. Could that be Limbaugh? Hannity? Now there’s some credibility.
