Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

I didn’t have alien invasion on my 2023 BINGO card.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

I know this must be bad for Joe Biden, I just don’t know how.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Let there be snark.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

I really should read my own blog.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Black Activists Mourn the Passing of Ronald Reagan

Project 21 Members Call Former President “Great Leader”

As the nation’s capital prepares for the public viewing and state funeral of former President Ronald Reagan, members of the African-American leadership network Project 21 are expressing their profound sympathies to the late president’s family and friends and celebrating his achievements in making America stronger and spreading freedom and liberty throughout the world.

To follow are personal comments from Project 21 members about President Reagan and his legacy:

(Testimonials deleted to save Space- the whole email is in the extended entry below)

Project 21 has been a leading voice of the African-American community since 1992. For more information, contact David Almasi or Virgil Beato at (202) 371-1400 or [email protected], or visit Project 21’s website at http://www.project21.org/P21Index.html online.

Has anyone ever heard of Project 21 before?

Yeah I’ve heard of them. They are a group of conservative blacks. I don’t know much about them beyond that.

Sounds like an astro turf group. Here is a great bit on one such Black Republican group

They probably call it Project 21 because they could only find 21 blacks that would say anything nice about Reagan!

It’s a front group for the conservative right. Move along, nothing to see.

    “…for the conservative right.”

Is there another flavor I need to know about.

But thank you for not saying such folks “aren’t Black.”

    Cordially…

Shorter Oliver: They’re black but they left the liberal plantation so they’re meaningless and are probably being bought.

Yes, I’m confident that it’s just another case of minorities being victimized by those in power. Even though there’s not a speck of evidence for that.

I love that “left the plantation” analogy. Seriously, there’s nothing like being called a slavemaster to remind what vileness permeates conservative thought.
