Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

I really should read my own blog.

I didn’t have alien invasion on my 2023 BINGO card.

Second rate reporter says what?

You can’t love your country only when you win.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

In my day, never was longer.

Take your GOP plan out of the witness protection program.

The willow is too close to the house.

I was promised a recession.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

He really is that stupid.

After roe, women are no longer free.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

The Tired Old Game

This post is in: General Stupidity

If you have blogged for more than a month, you are probably tired of the favorite blogger game- Guilt By Association. Say anything that offends a liberal, and you are likely to get an earful of “Well, Rush Limbaugh said…” or “Ann Coulter said…,” because, after all, all people to the right believe everything those two say.

In turn, as a Republican, I am then obligated to note how Michael Moore and Ted Rall speak for all Democrats. Except that they don’t. Or is that changing?

The DNC has worked out a deal with the distributor of left-wing extremist Michael Moore’s new anti-Bush film that will ensure more than a half-million DVD copies of the film will be distributed nationwide in October 2004, just a month before the general election.

The unprecedented deal, in which the DNC will pay essentially a wholesale price for the DVD. “This could be a huge boost for our grassroots,” says a DNC furndraiser. “We have such a network now of folks getting together on a local basis that the movie will give them a reason to gather, perhaps fundraise and certainly expand their circle of friends.

If this rumor is true, what is to be made of it?

Can i say it before Oliver or some other lefty does:

“The American Spectator?! What’s wrong, couldn’t you get on Newsmax?”

There, said it. Now they might actually have to come up with an original thought. (not that they will)

I laugh at this. If they want to closely associate with this load Moore, I enthusiastically applaud it.

Lie down with dogs and all that…

Because, you know, Ted Rall has the same kind of distribution and sales as Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. I mean, Ted Rall was once made an honorary Member of Congress, just like Rush! Oh wait.

Rall is ten times more repugnant than either Coulter or Limbaugh, and he’s syndicated by over 100 papers.

(of course, who’s more repugnant is totally subjective, but since Kimmitt and his ilk are obviously not capable of making actual arguments and would rather just spew talking points, why bother trying to have an actual debate. No wonder you people keep losing elections)

I hope it’s true. It’d be just like the RNC handing out Clinton Chronicles, for all the difference it’ll make.

The DNC gets poorer, and regular, “little guy” Mike Moore grows more aristo/autocratic. What’s not to like?

    Cordially…

As far as the movie, I think I might see this Moore production, a personal first. After all, just two days ago the govt finally admitted that Moore’s charge that we allowed Saudis to fly out of the USA at a time airspace was closed IS CORRECT.

BTW, where did Rall call for a terrorist attack on the Washington Times? Wouldn’t that be a fair trade for Coulter’s wish for the NY Times? (I find both of their beliefs repellent, although Coulter’s more so just because I do sometimes agree with Rall.)

Er, Kimmitt, the story shows that Moore might as well be made an honorary member of Congress by the Dems. Nice spin.

Wow, Andrew lazarus the Vietnam throwback thinks he got the Administration in a GOTCHA moment.

“Moore’s charge” (lmfao like this idiot believe Moore charged something besides his buffet bill) was well known for a long time. You need to listen more closely.

Typical dishonest liberal. Go back and fondle your tie-dye, hippie.

Speaking as a (mostly) liberal who hasn’t been a big fan of Moore’s work in the past, I’d be apprehensive IF the latest movie was along the same lines as his previous films. But who knows–maybe it’s a better film. Some others who fall under the heading of Moore skeptics seem to think that it is. I haven’t seen it myself so I really can’t say.

Yeah, but YOUR government didn’t admit it. I believe that was his point…try and argue honestly.

Would the DNC using a Michael Moore movie be more disgusting than Bush Co using the recently deceased Ronald Reagan as a campaign prop?

I think so, and so do Nancy and other GOP’ers. Here is the link:

What is one to make of it?
Well…what is one to make of the PR that passes for News in the Corporate Media? Everyone knows it is biased. No question there. And everyone knows Moore is biased too. But they also know that it is a bias that has been absent from the Corporate Media…because the corporate Media is not really Liberal, as many have charged.

Just because Moore is biased it doesn’t follow that what he says is wrong. In fact, it is probably right. And I’d venture that it is important enough that one might do well to consider the facts he presents before casting that vote…unless one does not mind acting without all the facts possible.

Bush has had a honeymoon for far too long. And sadly, he never really even deserved the marriage…

In line with your starting point – guilt by association: the DNC doesn’t speak for all liberals either.

As for Fahrenheit 9/11, I look forward to the upcoming debate, both pro and con. There should be some healthy debunking and debunking-of-debunking ahead. Let the dice fall where they may.

The “news” that Saudis were in fact permitted to leave while everyone else was grounded isn’t exactly new, for those of us who check snopes.com every once in a while.

This, for instance, was last updated at the end of March, and contains pretty much everything that Mr. Lazarus maintains was just revealed a couple of days ago. Earlier incarnations weren’t all that much different. This,on the other hand, has been around since February.

Shocking, yes, if you haven’t been paying attention. I imagine the advent of cell phones is similarly shocking to anyone locked in a cave for the last decade or so.

    John,

Today’s (Friday) LA Times has an article that tells of how Moore has created a “war room” to market the film. The war room has Mark Fabiani and Chris Lehane on hand to attack anyone who questions the “truthfullness” of this film.

“Moore’s charge”, now THAT is funny.

The Saudi flight is old news–and I do notice how Richard Clarke, darling of the left, who authorised it, gets left out of the “charge”.

    June 11, 2004 at 10:39 am

Lehane… yeah that’s about right. The DNC has their operatives in place as if Moore’s film were a Dem presidential scandal. That’s about right too.

Kerry has clearly tried to subliminally use Reagan in his campaign already, using the “optimist” talking point whenever referring to him… his surrogates do it too.

I’m a Democrat who thinks Ted Rall and Michael Moore are nuts. People like that give us a bad name, and they always figure out how to screw things up when we need a more reasonable voice the most.

  22. 22.

    Terry

    June 11, 2004 at 2:07 pm

It’s kind of interesting that he hired Chris Lehane given that most Democrats and much of the media credit Lehane with spreading the false rumor about Kerry and the so-called “intern” story some weeks ago. The subject of the false story, Alexandra Polier, writing in New York magazine last week appears to also blame Lehane, although she characterizes her conversation with him as “unsettling,” but ultimately not “conclusive.”

“Yeah, but YOUR government didn’t admit it. I believe that was his point…try and argue honestly.”

Gblows, you’ve gotten it exactly assbackwards. Because the ‘fact’ that asst. national security advisor Richcard Clarke allowed Saudi nationals to leave the country immediately after 9/11 ‘has been known’ for a ‘long time’ OUR government in order to be lying to us would have to deny this fact. Admitting to something that is already ‘accepted as true’ is not only redundant and wasteful, but stupid.

Man, with the likes George Soros, Michael “Where’s the buffet?” Moore, and the DNC behaving the way they are (not to mention Democrats in general) McCain-Feingold isn’t worth the paper it was written on. Talk about wiping your ass with the wishes and trust of average Americans, and some of those numbnuts just keeping begging for more. The Democrats and their supporters, who do not speak out against the Democrats mangling of McCain-Feingold, are just as flat out corrupt and morally vacuous as George Soros and Michael “Pass me the cheese potatoes again, please” Moore, they should be ashamed.

John McCain and Russ Feingold should be drummed out of government for hoisting this unfree peice of First Amendment bashing shit law upon Americans.

    Not all the flights.
