Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

When I was faster i was always behind.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

Consistently wrong since 2002

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Hell hath no fury like a farmer bankrupted.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Weird Spam

Am I the only one who has been getting stream of consciousness spam lately? This latest one had the subject of ‘diagnose jerky,’ and the text stated:

“Unlike so many brides who have made their molten sandwich to us.When ball bearing near food stamp laughs out loud, coward about mortician daydreams.”

I have been getting a lot like this.

I was getting that weird stream of consciousness stuff for a couple of months but I think my spam filter finally picked up on it. Lately I’ve been getting lots of Russian spam.

I think I’ve read somewhere that it’s an ongoing attempt to defeat Bayesian filters. By “teaching” your anti-spam filters that ordinary “non-spam” words are spam, they hope that eventually you’ll have to dial back your spam protection… thus letting more of the crap through.

Alternately, they’re hoping that a high proportion of “non-spam” words in the mail will cause your filters to start letting spam through.

    Either way, they’re bastards.

Fortunately, the stream of consciousness spammers have not yet found my email address, but I am sure they soon will.

    I’m convinced it’s SKYNET pre-conscious musing. We’re doomed.

I’m thinking it’s probably a Chinese-to-German-to-Japanese-to-English Babelfish translation of something perfectly straightforward.

Or it could be the Bayesian thing.
