Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

In my day, never was longer.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

This really is a full service blog.

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Oliver- The Last Man Defending Berger

This kills me– Sandy Berger is caught red-handed pilfering documents in a sting, and Oliver is pissed that someone leaked information about the investigation.

My bad- Terry McAwful is still defending Berger. You just know Michael Moore can’t be far behind.

Maybe Michael Moore and Linda Ronstadt could serenade Sandy Berger with a rendition of, ‘Desperado’. This whole Sandy thing sounds pretty desperate to me.

Willis made his decision to lie down with any dog, as long as the GOP loses.

    That’s his decision.

However, it’s no different than any DU loon.

Perhaps Oliver should let us know in advance when he considers it a good time for news fo this type to leak….

Haw sad. He cares more about some precieved political angle to the leak than the actual theft and destruction of classifie documents.

And they wonder why America doesn’t trust Democrats with matters of national security.

Oliver, when you start caring more about the country as opposed to your own party, give us a call.

In the meantime, there were some leaks that damaged Bush earlier this year, so Oliver, to use your own words: “we’re just giving as good as we got”

Like it or lump it chump.

Let’s put Oliver aside for a second, simply because he’s a partisan hack who’s not to be taken seriously.

However, as this whole Berger things plays out, there’s one thing that’s not making sense to me.

OK, it SEEMS that Berger may have swiped a document that was critical of the way the Clinton administration handled all the millenium threats, and that this document was written by Richard Clarke.

Wasn’t Clarke the guy that was practically hollering from the rooftops that foiling the Millenium bombing was proof that Clinton’s administration was completely focused on terrorism (even though it was stopped by an alert customs agent who thought the guy had drugs, not a bomb)?

All this stuff, seems to me, is gonna make Richard Clarke look almost as bad as Berger.

    In defense of the radioactive

John Cole notices some die-hard defenders of Sandy Berger and his thievery:
