Unfortunately, I see the GOP doing the same thing on Kerry that they did on Clinton: conflating multiple issues, so that, if any one of them comes apart, the whole thing will *appear* to be wrong.
With the Clintons, there were multiple investigations on different topics: Whitewater (the first one), Hilary’s cattle futures, the WH Travel Office, sexual harassment, etc. Janet Reno’s appointment of Ken Starr to investigate ALL of them meant that if Starr found X to not be one issue, the impression was given that there were NO issues.
With Kerry, the Swift boat folks (and the GOP in general) is making a similar mistake. What Kerry did AFTER his time on the boats (both while in uniform and out) is SEPARATE from whether he deserved his medals or not.
Personally, I think the charges about him trumping his medals is weak. What he did as part of the anti-war movement, OTOH, is HUGE *and* well-documented. I think the GOP (and bloggers) would do well to try and keep the two separate.

Regarding Kerry and anti-war efforts while in uniform. I suggest you investigate his ferrying around of anti-war activists while still in uniform -he piloted the plane, after his stint in VietNam and assigned to duty in New York.
