Here is a game everyone can play to waste a little time. The rules are simple, and it is just good, clean fun.
Here are the rules and scoring:
1.) Search as many lefty/lib websites as possible, searching for comments bemoaning the fact that Bob Dole spoke out about the Swift Vets bit. Give yourself 1 point if you find a lefty/lib mentioning Dole.
2.) If the lefty/lib says something to the effect “It is a shame that he would sink so low after becoming respected in his old age,” give yourself 5 points.
3.) If the lefty/lib uses the phrase “elder statesman,’ give yourself an additional 10 pts.
4.) If they link to this Noel Koch piece in the WaPo, give yourself 5 more points.
5.) If you can find any proof in their archives that they ever said anything positive about Dole in the past, give yourself 10 pts.
6.) If you find disparaging remarks about Dole in their archives, give yourself 25 points.
I read three liberal sites today, each one containing a sorrow-filled, rueful, “woe is the world” post that the great Bob Dole who they respect so much would “sink so low.”
Except the liars never liked Bob Dole. They lied about his war record. They lied about his legislative record. They lied about his character and demeanor. They were brutal to his wife. And they voted for a draft-dodger rather than than him. That is how much they ‘respected’ him.
The shit that comes from some of these people’s mouths.
*** Update ***
Mark Kleiman should be applauded for his honesty. I have no problem with people who think Dole is a dick. Personally, I think George Mitchell is one of the biggest partisan assholes to ever walk the earth, and the notion he is an ‘elder statesman’ is just laughable. But what really pisses me off are the people pretending to have once liked Dole, but that his recent comments are just too overboard.
