Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

Stay strong, because they are weak.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

Everybody saw this coming.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

Their shamelessness is their super power.

No one could have predicted…

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Watch Atrios shill like the whore he is:

First Lady Attacks War Record of Decorated Hero

Astounding:

TIME: Do you think these swift-boat ads are unfair to John Kerry?

BUSH: Do I think they’re unfair? Not really.

We have a First Lady who spits on Veterans for sport. Disgusting.

Of course, here is the full Time quote:

TIME: Do you think these swift-boat ads are unfair to John Kerry?

BUSH: Do I think they’re unfair? Not really. There have been millions of terrible ads against my husband.

Laura Bush’s context of fairness is not the charge themselves, but ‘fair’ in relation to what has been thrown at ther husband. And the Democrats are the smart, nuanced ones. Assholes.

But Atrios went over to the Dark Side long ago, John. What else are we to expect from him?

To be a Democratic partisan today means that one has a written deed to the Moral High Ground, and a Get-Out-Of-Moral-Odium-Free Card for use when caught lying, dissembling, or distorting the words of others. It’s no wonder that people you’d be willing to have in your living room are unwilling to be called Democrats…or, God help us all, “liberals.”

    1) You’ve got a malformed blockquote closure; forgotten backslash.

    2) Expecting intellectual honesty from Atrios has never been realistic. Give it up.

Duncan Bullshitter Brown, better known as “atrios,” the former junior high school gym teacher from Philadelphia, is always trying to usurp the use of such words as “patriot” in order to disguise his own lack of credentials in the area. This slur on the First Lady represents one of his lamest attempts yet, and would only fool his typical maladjusted fans.

So when Atriosoros supports Kerry, who made a nation spit on Vietnam vets, that’s ok I guess.

The LA Times put it correctly. Paraphrasing (the original is now firewalled), the ads against Bush are nasty and personal; the ads against Kerry are nasty, personal, and false.

Great plan, though: trade our emabrrassing truths for your embarrassing lies.

Apparently Mr.Lazarus suffers from language comrehension deficiencies. The subject of the Swift Boaters latest ad concerns the fact that Sen. Kerry today says he’s proud of his anti-war activism, but that’s not what it was. Every war has pacifists and conscientious objectors and even disenchanted veterans, but there’s simply no precedent for what John Kerry did: a man who put his combat credentials to the service of smearing his country’s entire armed forces as rapists, decapitators and baby killers. The junior Senator from Massachusetts is clearly unfit for command. His record consists of much, much more than embarrassing lies.

    It’s fair on both counts.

And, btw, the moonbats have every right to speak, just like the Swifties. And we all have the duty to decide who is right or wrong. And ALL the politicians should stop legislating Speech bans.

That said, this is a fight between ‘Nam vets. Kerry is trying to drag Bush into it, but this is his own unfinished business.

“he LA Times put it correctly.”

    AJL,

There’s a first time for everything, but this isn’t such an instance.

    Cordially…

It’s hard to see how the number of attacks against Bush have anything to do with the specific fairness of the swiftboat crusade. Atrios didn’t commit any foul in cutting the excerpt the way he did.

I do, however, LOVE the way juicy boy is now fantasizing about getting Atrios to bend over. Some repressed desires there, JB?

I don’t believe that the Swiftvets or many other vets opposing John Kerry for that matter are actually angry over his anti-VietNam War stance after returning home. What I think they a really steamed about, and rightfully so in my opinion, was his slandering of their character and honor as Americans and as soldiers.

Hmmmm, so Duncan Brown aka Atrios was a junior high gym teacher. Wonder if he ever took Jocelyn Elders advice and taught the boys how to masturbate. Because in my experience with people like Atrios they just don’t become jerkoffs overnight, they work at it.

Atrios like Michael Moore is a sitzpinkler.
