So Bush wishes Clinton well at a rally, the crowd of partisans cheers, and the AP lies and claims that the crowd booed. Finally, the facts come out, and a correction is made. What bothers Josh Marshall?
Karen Hughes went totally apesh-t at the AP when that dispatch hit the wire.
She stormed up the bleachers and starting screaming at the AP writer (who took it in stride). “They didn’t boo! Were you and I in the same rally! What is this crap?” or something along those lines (it was loud in there). The AP writer then canvassed his colleagues, who all said they hadn’t heard any boos.
Say what you want about McClellan (“dreadful briefer,” “talking points only”), I don’t think he’s ever screamed at a reporter…
The blatant fabrication and out and out lie doesn’t bother Marshall. Hughes yelling to get the lie exposed does. Telling.

Reading Josh Marshall can cause brain damage
Oliver
Did you just ignore this item?
Slartibartfast
It’s not about “giv[ing] Bush and the crowd their due”, Oliver. It’s about owning up to that he swallowed a bogus story hook, line, and sinker, and probably did so because he wanted it to be true.
Which is precisely the problem I have with latching on to any story of this kind, before doing the least bit of work to make sure there’s a grain of truth to it.
jones
Eat another hamburger, Ollie, you Soros whore.
shark
Yelling at the liar (I can’t call him a reporter because he’s either grossly incompetant or more likely biased) isn’t enough. She should’ve kicked him in the nuts.
Mason
It’s Oliver! Making sure those comment-checks from David Brock keep rolling in, eh?
Maybe if you took off your race-baiter glasses and put on your reading comprehension glasses, you would see your link was from Sept 3, Cole’s link was from Sept 4, and your little snipe has nothing to do with Cole’s point anyway.
Terry
I wonder when some of Josh Marshall’s friends are going to stage an intervention. They better hurry before it gets too late.

So, it is OK when Teresa Heinz asks a reporter to “shove it”, but it is not nice of Karen Hughes to call out a liar?
Hypocrites!
RW
Just as in the case as the infamous “wreath” story, saying that the story has been corrected is one thing…ignoring your sanctimonious blather that was based on the falsehoods is another.
It certainly wouldn’t hurt Marshall’s cred with the left to say “oops, sorry about my snark…it was wrong to say in this case”. Why are so many so unwilling to simply state the truth, instead of spinning or arranging things to benefit their cause? (never mind…..’cowardice’ is the reason)
jeff
Shanti hit the nail on the head.
Teresa Heinz is a hero for telling a guy to shove it, a guy who, regardless of what you think about his paper, asked a legitimate question about what she meant by “un-american” and even though it was on tape, she kept denying ever said it.
But a guy from the AP prints a bald-faced lie and somehow he’s above being called on it.
Just another sign of how desperate the left is these days.
HH
Contrast this with Teresa Heinz Kerry who was the liar in that case… Trust the Dems to always back the liar.

Jeez, and Oliver is talking about truth after he buys the Kitty Kelley book, hook, line and stinker.
So Olie baby, do you actually believe Dubya is a hoimosexual and his father is a child molestor?
John Cole, like Kryptonite to stupid. Oh wait that is …
slickvguy
I’ve never visited Josh’s website before. And after a few minutes spent there, I can safely say I never will again.
Did you see THIS entry from this lunatic lefty? WTF is it with these people???
