Enough of the trivial stuff like politics- my election is over, and if Kerry wins, we will survive. Every time there is an aberration like Carter, a Reagan comes along to clean things up.
But now on to important stuff:
My beloved Pittsburgh Steelers absolutely manhandled the Patriots 34-20 (and it wasn’t that close) yesterday, and I have been floating ever since. I really have a lot of faith in this team, and Ben Roethlisberger has exceeded my wildest dreams. He is going to have abad game or two and lose us some games, but so far his play has been spectacular.
As for the rest of the team- look at some key statistcs from yesterday:
221 yards rushing
196 yards passing
34 pts
Time of Possession: 42:58
4 forced turnovers
The Pats rushed for 5 yards.
You can’t single out any player from the team for praise- this was total domination.

As much as I hate the Squealers, I hate Bellicheck even worse. I was very happy to that jerk and his Wolverine QB go down in flames.

Congrats, John. I’m a believer on Roethlisberger, now. Me, I watched my Seahawks almost snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Guys, what is it about the prevent defense that you can’t seem to grasp? Don’t let them get behind you!
*slap*…OK, I feel better.

As a Pats fan, I’ve gotten more calls and emails from yinzer college buddies today than I have in two years. That was a whoopin’, but now the season gets interesting. There’s shaping up to be a real dogfight for homefield advantage. As if I needed more incentive to watch football, but there’s a handful of teams that should hang around for the #1 spot until the end of the regular season.

Shhhh… Here come the Eagles.
(Of course I’m deathly afraid of playing the Steelers at Heinz Field. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Birds lost.

The Steelers are looking up, real time. The Eagles are hurt. If the Eagles win hurt, they really might look at running the board, as the Steelers are playing with the best this year.
As a Raiders fan its hard to root for either team, but it’s gonna be fun to watch.
UncleHorns
Sure. They could run the table. And then what?
I’ll tell you.
We give the NFC championship trophy to the visiting team…again.
Hard luck with the Raiders. I watched Collins at PSU. His ’94 season will be one for the books…

You Steelers fans are so ridiculous.
When the Pats beat you in the 2001 AFC Championship, you all whined about how you had the better team. When the Pats beat you again in the 2002 season opener, you kept whining. And now you’re crowing and chest-puffing about beating an injury-ravaged Patriots squad to end a win streak that had long since passed the point of statistical improbability.
So let’s put that “total domination” in context: when the Patriots’ injury situation forces them to use a short-passing game, rather than play action behind Corey Dillon runs, even a drooling retard like Bill Cowher can figure out that you beat them by blitzing Brady every down until he coughs up the ball, whereupon you hand it to Staley and Bettis to grind out yards and chew up clock, while occasionally letting Roethlisberger throw prayers downfield at a beat-up secondary.
The amazing thing is not that the Steelers won, but that they didn’t find a way to choke the game away. Never fear, though — I expect the wheels to come off the bandwagon after the Philly game this weekend.
