Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Nikki Haley, who can’t acknowledge ‘slavery’, is a pathetic shill.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

Let’s finish the job.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

Innocent people don’t delay justice.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

We still have time to mess this up!

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

I desperately hope that, yet again, I am wrong.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

Battle won, war still ongoing.

Dead end MAGA boomers crying about Talyor Swift being a Dem is my kind of music. Turn it up.

“And when the Committee says to “report your income,” that could mean anything!

Don’t expect peaches from an apple tree.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

The choice is between normal and crazy.

The revolution will be supervised.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Limbaugh’s Doctors

by John Cole|  November 17, 20045:55 pm| 32 Comments

This post is in: The War on Your Neighbor, aka the War on Drugs

I don’t care what you think of Rush Limbaugh, but if you do not recognize that this is one of the most politically motivated witch-hunts in the history of American prosecution, I take back everything nice I said about “The Hunting of the President”:

Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday won an appeals court ruling that will send his case to the Florida Supreme Court, which could decide if prosecutors properly seized his medical records late last year as a part of an investigation into Limbaugh’s prescription drug use.

In early October, a three-judge panel of the 4th District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach ruled Palm Beach County prosecutors didn’t violate Limbaugh’s privacy rights when they seized his medical records with search warrants.

Limbaugh and his attorney, Roy Black, have maintained that prosecutors should have followed a procedure in state law and notified Limbaugh that they intended to obtain his medical records.

That would have given Limbaugh a chance to contest it in court, and a judge would have to decide whether prosecutors could issue subpoenas for the records. Instead, prosecutors looked at Florida case law and determined they were allowed to seize the records with search warrants without notifying Limbaugh.

After that ruling, which technically cleared the way for prosecutors to continue with their investigation, Black asked the same three-judge panel to reconsider its decision or send the case to the Florida Supreme Court.

There is absolutely no need for any prosecution in this case, there is no precedent for prosecution in this type of case (in particular, precedent points in different directions), and Limbaugh has already dealt with his addiction.

What is most saddening about this is that all of the fucked up liberals in Palm Beach writing the prosecutor to advance this case are probably the same loudmouths who have never read the PATRIOT Act but are screetching how it violates their civil rights. Once again, and I can not state this often enough- the corrupt war on drugs has destroyed more of your civil rights than anything else ever put before the President to sign. And now a supposed group of liberal civil rights advocates are willing to cut off their nose to spite their collective faces.

A Deep Breath

This post is in: General Stupidity

Who needs the International Criminal Court when you have the media?

Cripes, they have already convicted this Marine, and it appears that no one is even paying attention to what Kevin Sites himself has said. If you listen to the media, our Marines are just running around executing people.

Just some quick doses of reality:

a.) The insurgents have been booby-traping bodies.

b.) If we were just executing these people, why did we bandage them yesterday?

c.) These people blow themselves up in car bombs and with explosives belts every day. Is it really far-fetched for a Marine to think a guy playing dead might have bad motives?

I am sick of the media. I am sick of the blame America first mentality of our press and their cheerleaders on the left.

The Bus and the Steelers Roll On

The Steelers defeated the hated Browns today by a score of 24-10. Once again, the Steelers have swept the series vs. the Browns, and it looks like this Steeler team really is something special.

Ben Roethlisberger also set and NFL record today, as he is now the first rookie in NFL history to win 7 in a row. Congrats.

The real hero of the game today was Dick Lebeau and his smothering defense- Blitzburgh is back again. If you want to know what the day was like for the Browns, this picture sums it up:

Is it too early to start thinking about one for the thumb?

Strange Standards

I simply do not understand. When an entire wing of a news department spends five years investigating the President regarding fraudulent charges, and then intentionally airs a program defamingthe President with only forged documents to make their case, nothing happens.

Cut into CSI:NY with a news alert, and it is off with your head:

CBS News has axed a news producer who cut into prime-time programming Wednesday night to report the death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

The staffer, a female senior producer for CBS

Arafat Funeral

Let me just say a few things about the Arafat funeral:

1.) It absolutely sickens me to hear foreign dignitaries honoring this swine. Jimmy Carter is a national embarassment.

2.) If, after watching the over-wrought mourning in Ramallah, I describe the Palestinians as animals, no doubt some jackass will call me a racist. Let me thus observe that their behavior is animalistic. And these people want a country…

3.) Unfortunately, the youth did not catch the irony in this chant:

“Our blood, our souls, we sacrifice for you, Yasser Arafat.”

As a lifelong fan of the resurgent Steelers, this kinda nonsense scares the hell out of me:

Warren, who didn’t play when the Browns and Steelers met last month, said Thursday that the best way to stop Pittsburgh was to stop its quarterback and that the best way to stop Roethlisberger was with a forearm to the side of the head. Then he demonstrated by smashing his left forearm into the palm of his right hand.

“Kill the head, and the body’s dead,” he said. “You have to get to him and rattle him.”

Warren is something of an authority on the subject. In the third game of his rookie season in 2001 he knocked former Jacksonville quarterback Mark Brunell out of a game with a shoulder to the chin. The hit on the Jaguars’ quarterback, made after Brunell threw an interception, did not draw a penalty, but it did provoke the league to respond with a $35,000 fine.

I have no problem with physical football, and I do agree to some extent that quarterbakcs are over-protected. I also have no problem with generic chest-thumping- “We are going to be all over Roethlisberger this week-end,” or “We plan to get some hits on BEn to try and rattle him.” However, when you make specific threats promising game-ending, season-ending, or God forbid, career-ending injuries should be treated diffeently. Specific threats like this should lead to an automatic suspension, and Warren shouldn’t even be allowed to take the field on Sunday or for the next 3-6 weeks.

Verdict

by John Cole|  November 12, 20045:27 pm| 10 Comments

This post is in: Domestic Politics

A verdict in the Peterson trial:

Jurors found Scott Peterson guilty Friday of first-degree murder in the death of his pregnant wife and second-degree murder in the death of their unborn son.

The verdict leaves Peterson facing a possible sentence of death or life in prison without parole. A penalty phase of the trial is set to begin November 22.

I am indifferent about this verdict. I personally believe that he killed her- I have real problems with those who cheat on their spouses, and I find it inconceivable that I would leave my wife alone on Christmas Eve , particularly 9 months pregnant.

At any rate, I think he did it, but I don’t think the prosecution proved it. I guess it is a wash. Right outcome, wrong verdict.

*** Update ***

I agree with everything Jeralynn has written here:

I do not believe the charges against Scott were proven beyond a reasonable doubt. The evidence was paltry at best. He was tarred by being a liar and a cheat. Scott Peterson was tried and convicted in the media, months before the trial started.

There was no murder weapon, no cause of death, no time of death, no identifiable crime scene, no witnesses. And a reconstituted jury that deliberated less than a full business day.

This jury as much said, “Someone killed her and there is no other explanation so it must have been Scott.” Shameful. That is not proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

Like I said- I do not think they proved Peterson guilty at all. However, I really do believe he did it. Having said that, knowing what I know, I would have been unable to convict him were I a member of the jury. Got all that? I think he did it but I don;t think they proved it.

*** Update ***

Oliver states that my position on this verdict is ‘positively Kerryesque.’ To which I respond- guilty as charged.
