Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Americans barely caring about Afghanistan is so last month.

We still have time to mess this up!

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Let there be snark.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Not all heroes wear capes.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

This blog will pay for itself.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Idiocy, Part 3

When we say the loony left, we really mean it:

Was the tsunami caused by a bomb?
author: curious
It seems very convenient that the epicenter of the earthquake was in war torn Aceh. Could a bomb or series of bombs on the faultline have caused this huge earthquake/tsunami?
FACTS

Aceh has fought for independence for many years – even before Indonesia became a democracy (AKA US protectorate) a few years ago.

There is oil, a lot of it, in Indonesia.

The US is engaged in military “training” in the region.

80,000 + people in Aceh died in the earthquake.

I’d bet anything that Aceh will suddenly become peaceful and cooperative with the US appointed Indonesian government.

My head hurts. Another reader offers more evidence of the conspiracy:

The key United States military base in the Indian Ocean has been unaffected by the tsunamis which have devastated parts of Asia, The Washington Post has reported.

Diego Garcia, a British territory about 1,500 kilometres south of India, hosts about 3,200 US military personnel and civilian contractors and many US long-range bombers and Navy ships.

Lieutenant Colonel Bill Bigelow, a spokesman for US Pacific Command in Hawaii told the newspaper the US base was apparently safe.

“There are no reports of any damage there,” Lt Col Bigelow said.

This was a Tsunami for OIL! (Via the Belgravia Dispatch)

The highest point on DG is 7′ above sea level. One would tend to think the tsunami would have flooded the whole island. If nothing else it’s curious that there was supposedly no damage there.

Curious? So what do you conclude Lonewhacko … that the tsunami was controlled by Karl Rove’s mindrays to dissipate on command?

I saw somewhere else that the island was not in the direct path of the tsunami, which just might explain no damage.

You know, I once walked past a long since burnt-out-brain street person who was mumbling out loud something about George W. Bush being God’s Chosen One to save America. Much of his babble was incoherent, but that statement was pretty clear.

    I didn’t write a post at Oh!pinion about it

The deal is that Diego Garcia has a deep trench in front, so the Tsunami doesn’t increase in height much…it just rolls ons by….notice that Bangladesh didn’t get hit much either. You’d imagine 1000’s dead there.

SPQR are you the guy who posts on Chaon Blog aka Karl’s blog?

Halliburton must have been involved because they cleverly left no “fingerprints.”

Hey, at least our side aren’t the ones complaining that the US government shouldn’t be sending aid.

Aaron, I’ve commented there on occasion. Karl’s sort of a buddy.

    Stingy, my ass

The US military is spending $6 million per day for tsunami relief in the Indian Ocean nations devastated by the December 26 earthquake. In other words, the armed forces alone have spent almost as much on disaster relief in 10…
