Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

I might just take the rest of the day off and do even more nothing than usual.

Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Republicans firmly believe having an abortion is a very personal, very private decision between a woman and J.D. Vance.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

Peterson and Frey

I swore I would not talk about this anymore, but here is my last comment on the issue.

Scott Peterson got railroaded. I am completely convinced he is guilty, but I saw nothing in that trial, had I been on the jury, that would have made me vote for guilty. I was stunned when it took them so long to come out for the death penalty- hell- they had already railroaded the guy, what scruples could they possibly have in putting him to death? They made sure everyone on the jury who thought differently from thegroup was kicked off- Peterson was dead the day he walked into court.

So- I am a little upset with the justice system in California. Now, having said that, he only thing more disgusting about this case is the odious slut Amber Frey, who is nothing more than a money machine for Gloria Allred. Allred, that self-promoting whore with no shame, spent the last two years injecting herself into the situation, using the legitimate abuses of women past and present to conduct a one-woman public trial of Scott Peterson. IN a decent society, Allred would be in the stocks in the public square.

Amber Frey’s claim to fame is that she is of such loose moral values that she slept with Scott Peterson on the first night they met. And for that, she is being given millions of dollars and a helluva lot more media attention than she deserves.

If you buy her book, you should seriously sit down and think about where you are going in life.

Scott Peterson got railroaded yet you are completely convinced he is guilty? You may want to rethink that one John.

To use one of your expressions, I wouldn’t piss on Scott Peterson if he were on fire.

I think he is guilty because of his behavior, his engaging in an affair, and because you just don;t go fishing when your wife is 9 months pregnant.

That is my personal opinion, and my personal opinion requires a low-threshold of proof, which falls far short of that required by a court of law. There is nothing logically inconsistent about me thinking someone is guilty and not being convinced beyond a reasonable doubt by the prosecution that he is in fact guilty.

Peterson has a mega-sized dose of Mike Tyson’s problems when he was facing that rape charge: when you pretty much admit that you’re scum, jurors probably tend to care less whether you’re guilty or not. On the other hand, juries tend to be rather reluctant to hand out death sentences unless they’re completely convinced the defendant is guilty, and sometimes not even then. It’s a nasty situation all around.

John, I think you are probably being a little tough on Ms. Frey–Peterson is pretty obviously a superior BS artist, and she ended up in a nasty situation by sheer bad luck (mind you, I won’t be buying her book either). Count me as being in favor of the “Gloria Allred in stocks” society, though. :-)

Unless you watched all the testimony, I really can’t see where you can say he got railroaded. Reading the nightly news reports and an occasional synopses isn’t the same as listening to 6-8 hours of testimony a day for weeks on end.

You made this decision based on news reports, and the jurers listened to hours of testimony.
