Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

Second rate reporter says what?

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

The words do not have to be perfect.

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

When do the post office & the dmv weigh in on the wuhan virus?

T R E 4 5 O N

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

The GOP couldn’t organize an orgy in a whorehouse with a fist full of 50s.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

This fight is for everything.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

We still have time to mess this up!

After roe, women are no longer free.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

You cannot shame the shameless.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Move Over, Rosie

There is another fat hypocrite in town:

Filmmaker Michael Moore’s bodyguard was arrested for carrying an unlicensed weapon in New York’s JFK airport Wednesday night.

Police took Patrick Burke, who says Moore employs him, into custody after he declared he was carrying a firearm at a ticket counter. Burke is licensed to carry a firearm in Florida and California, but not in New York. Burke was taken to Queens central booking and could potentially be charged with a felony for the incident.

Moore’s 2003 Oscar-winning film “Bowling for Columbine” criticizes what Moore calls America’s “culture of fear” and its obsession with guns.

Discuss.

*** Update ***

Nothing to discuss. The story is false.

It’s the Dianne Feinstein school of thought.

“A gun for me but none for thee.”

Amusing, but did he really call for the banning of guns? I thought the ‘culture of fear’ thing was the real point of BFC.

So what is he afraid of and why does his bodyguard have a gun.

Even more importantly, what is Moore’s opinion on gun license reciprocity? Moore is caught in a bind now if the center-right is smart enough to pull the trigger. He either gets to support reciprocity, make a statement that shows he’s evolved from Bowling for Columbine and his concern for the little guy just earning a salary is real, or he can say that the guy who is paid to take a bullet for him should be in jail, showing that his anti-gun ideology trumps his humanity and compassion.

He’s not going to be put in that position if all that happens is we all cry hypocrite.

the obvious response is that regular folks don’t really have anything to be afraid of – they’re just scared of black people because the GOP tricked them.

On the other hand, Moore has legitimate concerns due to the repeated threats on his life.

I’m gonna wait until more details come out, in case this is another “lefty protestor attacked US serviceman outside bar” story.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Moore had an arnsenal the size of Springfield in his basement considering his fan base. Just another Leftwingnut hypocrite.

I have asked this in other blog sites: has anyone actually ever seen Moore and O’Donnell together at the same time?

    Give Michael Moore Some Love

While it’s fairly predictable that the center-right will cry hypocrisy, I think that we should stand behind Michael Moore and his bodyguard. The man was trying to do the right thing and landed in jail for it. My point is…
