Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

Second rate reporter says what?

People are weird.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

People are complicated. Love is not.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

FacebookTweetEmail

If you ever wondered why Democrats are out of power, check out this post from Jesse.

To make a long story short, Barbara Boxer repeatedly called Condi RIce a liar, Condi responded that Boxer should not impugn her integrity- which is Washingtonspoeak for ‘stop calling me a liar’- and then Barbara Boxer goes all over the place and tells anyone who will listen that Rice atacke her.

And Jesse buys it, hook, line, and sinker. These people have lost their damned minds.

What is so disgusting about Boxer’s behavior is that they have no intention nor ability of blocking her nomination. They just want to weaken her so they can score pointa against this administration and the majority party in general.

Thanks guys- publicly weakening our represenative to the world for nothing other than partisan gain. Assholes.

And don’t tell me this isn’t about grandstanding. There is a reason Boxer alerted the media days before the Rice hearings. She wanted the press, and that was it. This isn’t about a consitutional duty. This is about petty politics.

Yeah, because the Republicans never would have done such a thing to a Clinton nominee.

I disagree – I think they’re putting on a show for liberals like me who don’t want Rice confirmed.

At the price of alienating moderates who might swing their way (and without whom, the liberals AND conservatives are a minority)?

Having seen Boxer’s performance on C-Span, it’s easy to see why she’s known as “The Empty Dress.”

Trust me, the vast, vast majority of moderates do not keep track of confirmation hearings, whereas a strikingly large amount of the committed base does.

Is this the same logic that dictates that no farmers voted for Dubya because you hadn’t seen any?

Of course, George Bush and Condi Rice had nothing to do with weakening our representative to the rest of the world. And Abu Gonzales had nothing to do with forfeiting any moral authority we might have once been able to claim on human rights.

Now, will the next health care plan cover surgery to remove my tongue from my cheek?

Yes, that’s right. NOT ONE NATION ever violated the Geneva Accords, especially as it applied to Americans, until George Dubya Bush came along.

North Vietnamese, VC, North Korean, Chinese, Cambodian, Palestinian adherence is widely remarked. Americans’ behavior, OTOH, was widely noted as abominable, consistently.

Wow! When did y’alls side start getting into that whole moral relativism thing? I’m not sure I like the way you apply it, though.

No, because that was obviously a bit of hyperbole. There are millions of people who work in agriculture, so obviously no one Party would enjoy their total support. The War on Metaphor continues.

    “The War on Metaphor continues.”

You know, I’ve looked in the dictionary more than a few times, and I’ve never, ever found “bullshit I’ve been called on” as an alternate definition of “metaphor.” Someone really ought to look into that.

You cannot possibly believe that I meant to imply that every single farmer who ever existed has voted . . . oh, wait, you can. Never mind.
