Did the Republicans ever actively and openly jeer Clinton during the State of the Union? I don’t remember that kind of behavior, but I am not surprised to see it from the folks across the aisle.
*** Update ***
Apparently the Republicans did boo Clinton in 1995, and some left before the speech ended- Oliver has the goods. Jerks everywhere, it appears. I take this as further validation of Jane’s Law:
Jane’s Law: The devotees of the party in power are smug and arrogant. The devotees of the party out of power are insane.

Irrefutable proof that PEST and BDS are serious afflictions. Sufferers of such should be forcefully sedated and institutionalized before they harm themselves or others.

Not that I can remember. They’ve never done more than withhold applause and frown a bit for the camera. The Dem’s should’ve known better than to act up when Bush was on a roll like last night. He made them look like first graders who missed their naps.

Brit Hume said last night that Clinton was booed during a SOTU. No further details.

Further proof the right can dish it out but just can’t take it.

Lot of Republican first-termers in 1995–they got an earful from the media and a lot of their constituents, IIRC, and the behavior wasn’t repeated. What’s the Democrats’ excuse? Their first-termers for this Congress could comfortably fit in a phone booth.
Just as an aside, I hope the RNC snapped plenty of shots of Shrillary as she listened to the speech. That “week old sour milk” look on her face will be just fine for certain ads to be aired in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles.

There are rabid stinkers on both sides of the aisle. I remember the bile spewed by Republicans during Clinton’s administration. It was terrible.

Heh. Maybe the re-elects feel like their seats are so safe they can get away with anything?

That’s what Tom Daschle, Tom Foley, Martin Frost and Max Cleland thought.

regardless of Oliver’s suspect sources*, as someone who watches the damned things, I can say that I don’t remember any open ‘booing’–I remember the silence from the Republican side of the aisle, but I can’t say that I recall any actual booing (not to say that I didn’t think it was warranted in a few cases…)
*the MSM, as a whole, is a suspect source. Having shown it’s partisanship so blatantly of late EVERYTHING that they are saying orhave said must be taken with a ton of salt.

Of course this was way before the impeachment when Republicans were supposedly “out of control” and the like. The Dems are much worse now and it will only get worse.
