Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Of course you can have champagne before noon. That’s why orange juice was invented.

Bark louder, little dog.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

You’re just a puppy masquerading as an old coot.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

American history and black history cannot be separated.

Sweet Sixteen

My beloved Mountaineers are heading to the Sweet 16 after defeating 2nd ranked Wake Forest in Double OT.

Huzzah!

Props also to Greg Jones, the greatest wrestler in WVU history, who won his third NCAA championship today. And when I say greates wrestler in school history, I am not exaggerating:

Over the past several seasons, the West Virginia coaching staff has engaged in a rather bizarre offseason ritual. Coach Craig Turnbull and assistant coach Zeke Jones sat in the wrestling office, poured over a list of tournaments and brainstormed a way to schedule a match that their 184-pound wrestler would lose.

Seriously.

It’s not easy. Not when the wrestler in question is senior Greg Jones, who enters tonight’s 184-pound final against Tyler Baier of Cornell at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship at Savvis Center with the following qualifications:

A 50-match winning streak.

Two previous NCAA titles.

A total of 10 takedowns scored against him. In four seasons.

And more than 400 takedowns scored.

“Our goal his whole college career is to find somebody to beat him,” Zeke Jones said.

There’s a method to the coaches’ madness – to relieve Jones of the heavy burden of an undefeated season.

The only thing keeping Greg Jones from being mentioned in the same breath as four-time NCAA champions Pat Smith and Cael Sanderson is his performance as a sophomore at the 2003 NCAA tournament. He entered the tournament with a 46-match winning streak, got upset in the first round and failed to earn All-America status.

[Scott looks at his brackets and sees that, yes, he picked Wake Forest to make the Final Four–along with Oklahoma]

Well, I won’t be winning *this* year.

I got a chance to watch Beilein at the University of Richmond for a few years. He’s a decent guy and a helluva coach. I knew that he would turn the WV program around, I jsut didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.

    What the…?

WVU totally wrecked my already teetering bracket. I had Wake going all the way.

Still, though, if Pitt isn’t in it, WVU becomes a team of choice for me. Go Mountineers!
