Apparently massive trackback spamming killed this place temporarily.
I have the information about the trackback spammers- anyone know anything about what legal options I have against these bastards?

Well, there’s “seething”, which seems to be the most common course.
If you can actually hassle one of them, I’d love to know about it.

You should contact typepad and see if you can check with them. I moved my site (thank the Lord) to Powerblogs, but Typepad was quite diligent about going after trackback spammers and tracking them down. From what I have heard and read, you need to find out the URL source, the original codes then go to whomever is hosting the spammer. Also, I would suggest you write (no email) your two senators and your rep since spam etc. has been a big issue in Congress. In fact, write to your Senators and Congressman/woman AND also write a letter to some politico in Congress who you admire. You’d be amazed what results you can get. You have a short term problem (going after them)and a longterm problem (combating spammers).
I have to tell you I still get spam trackbacks and spam comments on my typepad site, even though it’s really a dead site now and I will pull the plug on it within a few months since my whole site including the archives is over at Powerblogs. Powerblogs software seems to weed out many of the spamn messages via an auto discard feature (you get copies of the messages it will automatically refuse to post)
