I was watching the Apprentice, which, btw, is not very compelling this season, and during a commercial break I flipped to cable news to see what was going on in the world of talking heads. On CNN, a respectable conversation with Bill Nelson and Jesse Jackson, who was alarmingly discrete, thoughtful and informative.
On Hannity and Colmes, Sean Hannity was acting as coxswain for the Schivao villification goons, leveling the possibility over and over again that Michael Schiavo caused his wife’s condition. This gem was repeated several times:
“I don’t know what happened here, but it sure looks supsicious.”
Not knowing things and still having strong opinions seems to be a recurring theme with many who ‘speak’ for the ‘conservative’ viewpoint. This jackal can’t even wait for the autopsy to be conducted before he begins poisoning the well with the new disinformation campaign. If he has his way, regardless of the outcome of the autopsy, people will be repeating the mantra that Michael Schiavo caused his wife’s brain damage.
No shame. None, whatsoever.

No shame. None, whatsoever.
Yet wholly consistent with the methods of the current “conservative” movement and current administration. I sure hope the more thoughtful among you true conservatives will prevail. Cynically, I fear the media manipulation and disinformation campaigns as seen in the last election cycle and beyond will continue the ignorantification of the electorate–with disasterous results to our Constitution.

Hannity spews his hatred and contempt for anyone who doesn’t follow his radical extreme religious views. Unfortunately, too many people buy into his vile and slanderous commentary. The right wing extremists are trying to form a cult to control the masses.

Did you hear the latest? Sean Hannity will do a live feed from Terri Schiavo’s coffin tonight. Interviews to include the bagpiper and man/wife juggling team outside of the Hospice, and a special one on one segment with the man who was carrying a chicken wearing a hat in the protest area. Stay tuned1

For yet some more contrast see this post at Blackfive. A U.S. Army Captain is on trial for a mercy killing of a brain damaged Iraqi terrorist.
“I projected myself into that Iraqi. I didn’t want to be in his state if I were, I would hope that someone would put me out of my misery.”
A surprise witness, Michael Schiavo, testified that the Iraqi had spoken to Attorney George Felos via telepathy. Felos reported his contact with the severely wounded Iraqi.
“Such a deep, dark, silent (blue)brown. I stared as far into (her)his eyes as I could, hoping to sense some glimmer of understanding, some hint of awareness. The deeper I dove, the darker became the (blue)brown, until the (blue)brown became the black of some bottomless lake. “(Mrs) Mr. (Browning) Akbar, do you want to die … do you want to die?” I nearly shouted as I continued to peer into (her)his pools of strikingly beautiful but incognizant (blue)brown. It felt so eerie. (Her)His eyes were wide open and crystal clear, but instead of the warmth of lucidity, they burned with the ice of expressionlessness.”
Asked to comment Judge Greek remarked, “Well, there’s no one here to contradict Michael’s testimony so it must be true.”
Commenting on his blog “Balloon Juice, blogger John Cole had this to say. “Look, the guy was a member of radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr’s militia. As a member of a radical religious group what more do you need to justify his death. As to these calls for morphine, the guy was brain dead. It was splattered all over. He was incapable of feeling pain. In fact, his approaching death was probably euphoric.

Hannity isn’t the only media talking head gone bonkers… CNN’s Headline News’s Nancy Grace last evening ripped Michael Schiavo a new one claiming he had kept the Schindler family away from Terri during her last minutes.
A partial truth if Schiavo’s attorney Felos can be believed. His description leading up the the event was that Bobby Schindler and his sister (the Schindler parents were not on site) had been asked to leave Terri’s room after an hour and forty-five minute visit so the hospice could perform an “assessment.” Bobby refused and got involved in an altercation of sorts with a police officer. Advised of that situation, Michael Schiavo elected to keep Bobby Schindler and the accompanying police officer out of Terri’s room during her final moments.
Apparently, if the truth isn’t vile enough, it’s common practice for media types to make up their own version of reality. Now today, some in the broadcast media are parading any judge that agrees with them in an effort to defame the Florida judges rulings in the Schiavo case claiming unconstitutionality and that imminent impeachment should be the next resort. Jesus… as I posted more than a week ago: this issue is bringing out the worst of the worst at their worst.

and here’s a whole bunch of nice Conservative Bush-supporters ranting about the ‘culture of death’ and ‘judicial activism’:

Thanks for noticing.

This isn’t any different then John Kerry and the purple hearts controversy. Seriously. This is nothing more than standard operating procedure

Yeah, gee, I don’t know if Hannity and Jeff Gannon/Guckert have a thing going on, if you know what I mean.
I’m not saying they do, mind you. But then again I have no reason to say they don’t.
