I missed the whole Cornyn imbroglio, but I am glad to see that his idiotic and offensive comments were met with widespread scorn, and attempts to excuse Sen. Cornyn or to claim he was ‘taken out of context’ are simply absurd. Cornyn’s apology was a real treat, too, containing this gem:
My point was, and is, simply this: We should all be concerned that the judiciary is losing the respect that it needs to serve the American people well. We should all want judges to interpret the law fairly

I have read his statement and anyone who attempts to spin it as you have makes me wonder if you have read his entire statement or you have standards that differ significantly from mine concerning reason.
I expect this sort of thing from Oliver. Disappointing.

tsk tsk, TJ. Implying that there could be repercussions for your actions is the sort of thing that only a Theocrat could believe. Maybe there is room on the bonfire for you also.
Methinks a more basic truth about Delay would be more persuasive. Delay seems to be many things. An opportunist and hypocrite come to mind. Theocrat does not.

Apologies to Mr. Cole and TJ. for my lack of reading comprehension. I have mixed Cornyn’s comments with Delay’s actions.

John:
I read your comments with awe and wonder. I am not sure who or what you are channeling but you must have hit the direct line to Michael Moore’s inner child.
I loved the bit about Delay, I thought the article was about Cornyn’s purported comments? Again I assume you have expanded your mind. As far as bonfires go I would stay away from substances that have induced this state in you or you might just start such a fire while under the influence of which evber controlled substance you are enjoying.
Thomas J. Jackson
John:
Apparently my comments were made at the same time as your post indicating an error. If I had known this mistake I would not have responded in the manner I did. I suggest a complete reading of Cornyn’s statement including his last part declaiming any use of violence for any motive might shed a different light on his statements.
john(lesser)
yes TJ. My first comment was completely insincere, I was trying to be ironic. I have been giving Mr. Cole a hard time over this theocrat business the past few weeks (only because I enjoy his blog so much).

I thought Beldar had an interesting take on the whole thing–noting that Cornyn was himself a judge for 13 years.
John Cole
Which makes Cornyn’s initial comments all the more inexcusable.
Tom
Cornyn should resign. Those comments were inexcusable.

Yes,
Let’s always read everything in the least charitable light possible. Then lots of great potential public servants will all know it’s safe to serve.
Yeah, there we go.

Where are the Freicorps when we need a wet ops done?

Bilmon had the best comment on this.
