I surrender.

BUt of all the things you listed, Jim, can you really top the fact that CTU has only one medical staffer, and that man was ordered at gunpoint to ignore a man while he died?

Or that the only person they refused to torture this season actually WAS a terrorist?

I am still watching, out of a sense of obligation, more than out of interest.

And Cal Thomas is just a frigging idiot. What else can I say?

Thomas is definitely an idiot… but what cracks me up is that picture of him is the gayest thing EVER… gayer than Elton John and Liberace put together.

even better than the ‘Jack Pulls Gun on Doc’ was ‘Doc doesn’t realize Schizophrenic Girl in His Care is Having an OD’ … my god, CTU can track heat signatures of power plants from space how about basic medical telemetry (“beep me if the patient is not breathing”) within their own building?

oh well, the cobbler’s son who has no shoes …

my guess is that ’24’ is going to go for a ‘Peace Out!’ approach.

The missile detonates, but instead of Nuclear Death, origami swans made out of foil will be released above the city … the US has been bluffing about its aresnal… we’re not bad guys with bombs, Just a bunch of Happy Crafters …

it’ll be a joyoful, ‘I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing’ moment…

The expression on Marwan’s face would be priceless … way better than his look at the end of ‘The Mummy’

Both 24 and Thomas seem to be part of the continuing desensitization campaign for torture. Wonderful, we’ve become as bad as our enemies. This is just evil, since it’s been proven again and again that torture yields nothing in the way of good intel. So that leaves what, torture them because it’s fun?

I guess the Bushies think it will come in handy for providing more false intel they can use to justify the next war. Like anyone’s going to believe any of their intelligence at this point.

And in other shocking news, most female ADA’s don’t look like Angie Harmon or Jill Hennessy, losers like the folks on “Seinfeld” and “Friends” never could’ve afforded apartments like that in Manhattan, and, according to my father who was there, being in a MASH unit in Korea really wasn’t all that funny.

It’s a freakin TV show, people, stop analyzing it so fucking much.

LOLOL…I’ve never seen this show as I don’t watch TV, but this possible scenario just cracked me up. Thanks, BumperStickerest.

The show has definitely jumped the shark, but I will most likely finish out the season to see the resolution and to make sure I don’t watch next season.

Has anyone else commented on the increasingly common mispronunciation of the word nuclear. Jack’s now said nook-yu-lar multiple times and the preview for next week’s show has SofD Heller saying it the same way! For the love of god, if no one has the balls to correct the President on his butchering of the English language, can we at least stop it with him? Is this some weird sort of concerted effort by the writers to support the Pres? Before Bush, I had just never heard anyone have problems with that word.

Look, you have to suspend belief to watch it. I can sit and nitpick all the flaws, but why bother? It’s a fun show. Don’t read too much politically into it either way.

What’s intensely cool about ‘West Wing’ are two things:

    1. Originally, WW was ‘The Clinton Presidency, if Clinton weren’t an immoral weasel’ It was this alternate universe of Democratic Presidential Idealism. So, as a Republican, I could watch the WW and see the Dem’s version of “What Could Be”

    2. Now, when you watch the WW reruns, what you get is The Bush Presidency made Manifest. It’s scary good.

Toby’s speech to Leo when Leo says that Bartlett doesn’t have a mandate after the first term, .. “screw it, we’re here, let’s act like we have one’

Opposition based on principle – et cetera.

Of course, O’Donnell’s gone off the rails of his Crazy Train – witness his forgetting that charter schools with admissions criteria might be a bit different from a public school that admits all kids when discussing the quality of his charter school’s teachers.

But, Bravo’s West Wing Monday is Must See TV… the new stuff, not so much.

    Cal:

Torture has been proven effective…for supressing internal political dissent. As an intelligence tool, well, not so hot.

Authorizing torture also allows certain members of our administration to feel as though they are making momentous decisions, inflating their own egos.
