A couple things caught my eye. One is that my Governor Jodi Rell (R) had a 66% approval rating in a “dark blue” state like CT. And your governor and Schweitzer in Montana also had high approval ratings in a couple of “red” states.

One thing you have to remember is that Joe Manchin more of a JFK-style Democrat then he is a modern day Democrat, so much so that he has been labeled a “Republican in Democrat’s clothing” or a D.I.N.O by other Democrats within the state party during his previous runs for the gubernatorial nomination and later his run for Secretary of State.
