Violent crime has always been a local problem, not federal. Problem is so many congresspeople are products of local politics. They are also mental midgets and hard-core panderers by nature. When they get to Washington and find out that the real federal issues are complicated and that solutions require real leadership, they blanche. Still they have to do something to pass the time. Hence federal crime legislation. What really galls me is that these douche-bags are going to posture as tough. Tough for what? Taking on that organized pro-criminal lobby?
