Watched a few more episodes of the Wire, and right now I put it up there with Boomtown, which is my all-time favorite cop show.
This is better than the Sopranos. Better than Oz.

Boomtown was also an excellent show. A real shame that it was so short-lived. It is available on DVD as well.

Boomtown was good until it abandoned its central idea of presenting the story from different viewpoints and became just another run-of-the-mill cop-and-DA show. I wasn’t surprised it didn’t survive long after that.
